Emperor Peleus of Macaria, after years of war, defeats the Trabakondai barbarians and brings home their leader, Shirrin the Witch-Queen, as his slave. But what he couldn't possibly know is that this was all part of Shirrin's plan. Twelve years ago, Peleus betrayed her, stealing everything that was hers and leaving her for dead. But now, with vast magical power and over a decade of scheming at her back, Shirrin is ready to take her revenge, by any means necessary. But her goal isn't just to depose Peleus; she won't be satisfied until his entire Empire has burned to the ground.
A dark fantasy revenge story, heavily inspired by The Count of Monte Cristo, Bladethorn uses a similar tone to my previous novel, The Chained Flame. There is nobody and nothing who Shirrin will not manipulate to bring Peleus to his knees. The question is: is it worth it?
All three stories we've read from Saffron are among our very favorites: EARTHBORN EMISSARY, CHAINED FLAME, and now BLADETHORN. We look up to Saffron as writers, and study her work in hopes we can learn to make ours better, really.
We agree with everything that SupernovaSymphony writes in her review, and refer you to her words.

This is one of the greatest stories I have seen on this website.
My goodness.
I have endless accolades I could give this, and have done so on the final chapter, but here, I will ask, why does this have so few views? Something this impeccably crafted?
How well tension is crafter. How well the mysteries are drip fed to us enough to speculate, but not enough to give away the whole answer until it's time.
How ALIVE the characters feel.
How real and lived in the world feels.
How I was glued to my screen for the past nine hours neglecting all needs doing nothing but reading this masterpiece?
How utterly my mind is blown by something of this quality.
This should have more views. More people should read this.
It is an excellent story of revenge. Of the horrors of war. Of espionage and sabotage.
It has been long since a story made me feel this elated, this overwhelmed, after reading it.
Read this story. You are robbing yourself of an immaculate experience if you do not.
Five stars is not enough for this story.

The Love story in the ending of chapter 10, though not even the main love story at this point, is so powerful it made my old embittered heart WEEP in tears of Joy, Happiness, and Sorrow at the same time. At current, in its short form at the moment, it is now my Second Favorite Love Story of all time. My First is always and forever Gomez and Morticia of the Addams Family (Thank you Sean Astin and Caroline Jones for your portrayal in the TV show, and Raul Julia and Angelica Houston for the two movies you did.) It has bumped Wesley and Buttercup down to Third.
I do not say these things lightly. Even though my top three love stories are all heteronormative on the surface, the love evident transcends the limitations that I do see these values and morals could apply to any relationship of any combination of people and genders. "Disorder, Chaos, Cats and Dogs living together in Harmony!" And you Can quote me on that!
I have very high hopes for the rest of the story!
