Update - A Normal Girl is done. I checked that the cover art I want to use is still under CC0 by the artist and it is. I might make up a page for it but I am hoping to release it as something Patreon related and lead into a proper book. I have been holding back more writing in it than I have posted almost in my entire time online. Gonna be epic! Need food and Roach Girl work before sleep.

Update - Instead of Roach Girl 16 I worked on what turned out to be 4000 words of a novel I still haven't shared anywhere online which is close to 2000 pages. It's the final act and I want to complete it so I can edit it and eventually share it. No more than one more night of work remains.
What's the name of the project? Final act? That sounds like you'll fall over afterwards.
@Rellawing A Normal Girl. It's about a teen who comes home to discover everyone thinks she's this boy named Henry and her struggles in high school with not being able to be herself.
Also please please please...if you get the chance, please take a look at Mecchen House and/or leave a comment. This is one of the projects from my past I sunk well over 10,000 hours into over 18 months when it was first made. It means a lot to me personally. At least take in the art for the work, if you like.

I was deeply interested in it, but I just never finished it because of how Deviant Art is for writing pieces. *tilts head* When I'm bored tonight, I'll read more of it here on Scribble and give you hearts. I know it deserves it.
I know I joked below but I feel so sick and disheartened about how the scheduler did me wrong. I had a long night trying to work through a lot of things and it's just a kick in the stomach. I hope people are still able to find the updates but it's such a bummer to lose control of when I want something to release to give me a chance to breathe and prepare for upcoming writings.

It's probably for the best in retrospect.
So the entire series keeps to a similar format, I rereleased the first two chapters of Mecchen House in the way I'll be doing the rest of the book.
I'm not gonna change up the other books/works but since this one just started releasing, I figured it would be a better idea to keep consistency.
I still intend for Roach Girl to release in addition to this number but it falls far short of 2000 words in most updates. Anything in addition to Roach Girl will be in the 2000 to 3000 word zone.
New plan for future updates, based on feedback I think all future updates in a single series will be capped around 2000 words, with a max in the ballpark of 3000. I won't create artificial cliffhangers but everything needs a pause. So if a chapter is like 7000 words then you will probably see it presented as like Chapter X-1, X-2, X-3.
The exceptions will be certain works I still need to edit which are singular thoughts or self-contained short stories. But for ongoing tales I'm going to do my best to present the material in as manageable a fashion for readers and for myself. I am editing like 10,000 words a day and that is not sustainable.
Too much for daily updates? I've noticed updates where chapters are above 5000 words are not ideal for daily updates. With works like Mecchen House, I've already had to split 20,000 word sections a few ways. Would it be more manageable for readers to see releases capped at around 2000 words with sections like Chapter 3-1, 3-2 etc?
For just daily updates it’s best to keep it at around 1-2000 words but it can go higher the more days are in between a release otherwise you can get stressed out too much with having to write so much daily which isn’t good for your health
@Aralunai Right. My health. I guess I should worry about that and how little sleep I tend to get.
I'd say definitely cap daily updates if you can. It gives you more content to post, and helps readers not get overwhelmed by huge chapters every day. I'm terrible at reading stories serially though so I may not have the best advice lol

Update - Roach Girl 13 at 9 am PST on 6/7 (Today for most I guess. Time in an illusion!) and Mecchen House 1 (Prologue) will be roughly three hours after depending on moderator approval. Whew. Been a wild, wind blasted weekend.

Update - Crazy life stuff happened with a windstorm so I was really tired and had to work on house care so I had to put off Roach Girl and it got so late that I figured I'd just relax the rest of the Friday. Hold or Fold finishes up tomorrow and I will try to get some more writing out than that but I should work on a commission firstly.
Update - Ignore my previous. Tony on the Forums explained what I messed up. As a tip for everyone, wait to reshuffle, save sort, and arrange your drafts if you intend to update a lot or keep your work on here for scheduling. It can trigger an anti-cheat system. Seems like a few hours wait is best.
What do you mean by "anti-cheat system"? I wasn't aware there was much of that here except for a reactive system of moderators. Something to do with the auto-release system I've never used?
