Tomoka had continued fighting off the incoming root members through the usage of her insane speed and chakra reserves alongside the many insidious traps she had prepared. Some ninja’s had been reduced to chemically burned corpses after being trapped in clouds of corrosive chemicals infused with genjutsu.
Tomoka had already taken the lives of ten Ninja’s by the time her clones informed her of the approach of a dangerous target. Looking towards the coordinates she had been given she saw Itachi Uchiha looking from afar. The bright blood red eyes peering back at her shone with murderous intent.
In a moment she felt her chakra shake as one of her phantom minds jolted her out of Itachi’s genjutsu. Tomoka couldn’t help but smile as plan P-1 was a success.

‘I need to find a way to counter Itachi’s genjutsu. Afterall, fighting while concentrating on not making eye contact is a pain’
[I could always shake your chakra to break it] Kurama didn’t see much problem with that
‘The thing is Kurama, Itachi has a mangekyou sharingan. He could also put you under one just like Obito did back then’
[How about your clones then, they could do it]
‘Yes, but that would mean I would need to keep a clone with me at all times and protect it from being destroyed’ Tomoka passed back and forth while she thought of a solution.
[Well, it’s a shame you can’t make them in here otherwise that would fix the problem]
At that comment it was like a light bulb lit up in ontop of Tomoka’s head. She had a conjecture she wanted to test instantly. Waving hand signs she quickly made a phantom clone and ordered it to possess her. This was a skill she discovered her phantoms had.
Since the phantoms are made out of mostly pure Yin chakra they could enter someone else and possess them. Of course this had many restrictions. The stronger the target the harder it was to possess and the less time they could be possessed for. The chakra in their bodys acts as a natural barrier blocking the phantoms and making things difficult.
However, what if a phantom tried to possess Tomoka? Since their chakra was one and the same there would be no rejection. Like that, Tomoka ordered the new phantom to possess her. As it did she felt a new mind within her mindscape. The weird thing was that it was still her mind, rather an emotionless copy of it. With this she could now think of two different things at the same time.

Plan P-1 or phantom possession had been a success as one of her phantoms managed to jolt her and the other phantoms out of the genjutsu. After all, there was a limit to how many minds Itachi could put under his genjutsu in a single second.
Without losing any more time Tomoka concentrated on stealing as much chakra from Itachi as she could while ordering her many hidden clones to do the same. She would now employ plan C-1 to try and buy time.
“Itachi Uchiha, the girl living under this roof, is under my protection. Leave or I will be forced to use underhanded methods to secure her safety.” Tomoka began sweating a little as she saw Itachi ready for combat.
Before Tomoka could say anything else Itachi had sent over twenty shuriken and kunai at her in extremely complex angles thanks to his technique. Concentrating, Tomoka took out a pair of Kunai and began deflecting the lethal ones while the non-lethal ones stuck to her arms and legs.
“Fine! If you continue I won’t have any qualms about murdering Sasuke as revenge” As she shouted that Itachi’s tanto stopped a few centimeres away from her neck. His emotionless expression had changed into a frown.
Without moving Tomoka began talking once again. “I know you made a deal with that bastard Danzo. You would kill your clan’s men and take all the blame in exchange for your brother’s safety. I don’t give a rat’s ass about that. The girl living here is what matters to me and I propose a similar deal to you. Leave and I won’t do anything to Sasuke”
“Why should I not kill you then. If you die you won’t be able to kill him” Itachi was tempted to do so. However, even if the possibility was low. He wouldn’t put his brother in harm's way.
“Yes you could kill me but then the little gift I left with him would kill him” Tomoka wasn’t bluffing. She had left a bomb in Sasuke’s room with a phantom. As soon as she gave the order, all the phantom had to do was push the button then boom.
“Fine, but I am not responsible for what the others might do” With that Itachi left as his body decomposed into a murder of crows.

Missed opportunity to reveal obito's existence to Itachi. Good job and thanks for the chapter. I'm wondering how she'll explain this to the intelligence division and the Hokage.
Also you absolutely HAVE to give Nozomi an eternal mangekyo, and this would be a perfect moment to give her a mangekyo by tomoka being badly hurt.(keep in mind that the perceived death of a loved one is not the exact cause of the awakening of a mangekyo, the Chakra generated by the anger as a result IS, and this level of anger can be replicated under certain cercumstances)
No its way to early for her to get a mangekyo. Sasuke only barely awakened the sharingan with 2 tomoe during the massacre. It took years before he upgraded it to 3 tomoe during his fight with Haku. Now I understand Nozomi is a bit of a special case since she has had training with Tomoka, and is at a much higher l level than sasuke in combat, however that doesn't apply to her sharingan. It's fine to awaken it in its imature form now though.
@Fresh111 anger due to tomoka(her loved one) being hurt should have already happened,(meaning the condition to awaken the one tomoe sharingan should have already been passed) so you can claim that she has a slight mutation of her sharingan that it won't awaken until she obtains mangekyo status, which she won't be able to handle at first. From there you can pretty easily assume that waking up to find tomoka in a terrible state, and then seeing an explosion engulf tomoka(which she'll survive) then afterwards being unable to see tomoka, Nozomi will obtain enough anger due to the loss of a loved one that her mangekyo condition would be surpassed.
From there it's just a question of what desires her mangekyo powers will be based on, my suggestions would be: desire to be with her loved one(resulting in a movement type mangekyo ability, a canon example being Kamui), desire to be strong(I'm blanking on possible powers since it's a very vague category, however her desire specifically would be to be strong for Nozomi), desire for companionship(maybe a type of cloning ability or a genjutsu like the kotoamatsukami), I doubt this but she could have the desire to protect tomoka(a barrier jutsu of some sort).
After finding her desires there's the need to recognize her affinities with jutsu, itachi was very good at fire and gen(or yin type) jutsu, so his mangekyo abilities manifested as the ever burning flame and a very powerful genjutsu, whereas Sasuke had practiced fire jutsu even though it wasn't his natural affinity which resulted in the specific desire to control fire and the desire for the strongest flame(which he believed wholeheartedly his brother wielded).
There's also obito, whose desires I'm not entirely sure of, however I can assume that he had an affinity for spatial jutsu due to his mangekyo power manifesting in two space jutsu's (maybe he envied his sensei's power to protect them and viewed space as the perfect typing for protecting those he loved?)
@Tunefullcobra well I guess if it's bs'd away with a "mutation" I wouldn't have much of a problem, it just feels wrong to make her so damn strong right at the start you know? mangekyo in canon was supposed to be pretty much the peak of power for most uchiha. Where as upgrading past that to the rinnegan would pretty much be in the realm of gods for most shinobi.
It's already pretty insane how strong tomoka is at her age, capable of jonin level techniques whilst still being in the academy. But it makes logical sense since she is a reincarnation (who was already an adult at the point of first death) with some precognition of the future of this world. Not only that, but both Kakashi and Itachi serve as precedent for a genius of her level to even exist within this world.
Its a lot harder to explain away that massive power boost for regular 8 year old who yes, has had some training, but is still no were near the level of a jonin. I think its way to early because we barely know her as a fighter, she's never once been shown in serious combat. Its much more reasonable to have her awaken the regular sharingan. Heck I'm even fine with it being a fully upgraded or nearly fully upgraded 4-6 tomoe sharingan.
That aside later on in this series I wouldn't mind seeing her with a mangekyo. I'd like to speculate what new mangekyo abilities she can unlock. Personally I'd like to see a mangekyo ability that played with time travel. It would be so cool if she could go "ZA WARUDO" and massively damage the enemy in an instant. Or one that speed up her perception of time to the point where she can fight and strategise a lot faster. Or maybe one that let her go back 30 seconds in time to counter a difficult opponent. Anything goes with mangekyo as there doesn't seem to be any real limit to what it can do.
One more thing I forgot, but I just realized that Obito should have gone blind from mangekyo overuse, but he didn't. He probably just kept swapping them out with his backups he collected from the massacre. Eyebals really are just lightbulbs in the shinobe world
@Fresh111 the mangekyo's limits are the Chakra cost, the desires of the user, and the amount of uses before blindness, if Nozomi had a deep desire that involved time then yes she could have that, however I'm guessing that she'll need to go through an event where Tomoka's speed force lightning strikes her for her to be able to have a mangekyo ability involving time(which would be OPAF btw), which could be used along with her desire to be like tomoka to give her a speed force based mangekyo ability, however it could just as easily give her some 682 level adaptability.
Thank you by the way, I'm pretty sure I've figured out nozomi's desires for her mangekyo(desire to be with someone, desire to be like someone) though for all I know minimi could base her mangekyo abilities on some other desires that she'll obtain at some point later on.
