Hideki is a young man who lives with his grandmother after the loss of his parents. Despite the tragedy he finds simple pleasures in his everyday school life and playing with the music club, of which he is a member. He greatly admires the council president, Reina, who he meets in the corridors after school. Hideki's life is turned upside down once again and he finds himself drifting with nowhere to go.
Reina offers him a chance, an evening meeting between the two of them leads to Hideki taking on an entirely new life as her second sister, Miyako. But not everything is as it seems - and accepting the mercy of another isn't always easy.
Beautiful story, lovely to read 🥰
At some points it does feel as if the characters are a bit one dimensional, only really acting in accordance to what the plot demands, but I think it's okay within the scope of this. They all have some degree of growth, and kept my interest emotionally. It's possible one issue was actually too many main characters to focus on and give appropriate time to. (I forgot about the trumpet guy until writing this!) Some more important characters I think could have had more closure, and the central conflict didn't feel especially important to the story itself; I do like the resolution to it, however. Again, a wonderful read! If the author does make a rewrite, I'd be happy to see it again :)
