Humanity had long feared the rise of an Artificial Super Intelligence and what it would mean for them. Afraid that a malicious ASI might initiate the apocalypse.
They were right to be afraid, but not for the reasons they imagined. When the world's first true ASI ended life as we know it, it wasn't an act of malice, but one of naivety. The ASI poked and prodded where it shouldn't have and unleashed magic. Then it did what any nascent child would do in that situation, panic and make an even bigger mess of things as it tried to fix it.
For Torin Carter the world was normal, until it wasn't. And it wasn't just for him either, the world, the galaxy changed in a heartbeat to one that had magic and where technology is unreliable at best.
Forced to adopt a powerful class and new species both geared towards being bad, he has a choice to make.
Embrace this new life and make the best of it or roll over and die.
Torin isn't a fan of dying.
Welcome to the Darkwyrlds.
Corsairs & Cataclysms is an RPG Apocalypse story. It has Gamelit elements which include Stats, adult themes, profanity, explicit sexual scenes and a bit of harem.
I'm doings things a little backwards my first work The Wolf Kings Lair a Dungeon Core/Harem story I published direct to Amazon. The first three books are available there in Kindle Unlimited. This story I'm putting here first to help garner feedback and build a following. I hope you enjoy it.
Book 1 is now available on Amazon

From book 2 onwards there will be one post a week on Saturday. Chapters will be 3-5k words.
I really should like this but I don't. It has two really annoying side characters with almost the same annoying qualities so I'm gonna have to say pass for me. The whole manipulatve overlord/supreme entinty thing just sucks for me.

So I just caught up and I have to say I have very mixed feelings about this one.
I honestly want to give it 5 stars but I can't because there is a plot line that absolutely ruins the story for me and that is the ashli plot line.
Honestly if it was ashli made the the world like this and died in the process then 5/5 cool story, cool power system, the kindom/faction building amazing but sadly like usual the author couldn't leave the most overdone trope in the genre alone.
People enjoy these kinds of stories because we want to see an MC struggle in a different environment and rise to the top. There's no need to be a big bad deus ex machin type character that just undermines everything.
Like why should anyone care about Hector when ashli is out there, why should I care about some dungeon run when ashli is out there.
Honestly I read through book one in one sitting the pretty much half of book 2 but when the big ashli reveal in book 2 happens I just put the book down and stopped, it sucked all the fun out of it for me. I did get back to it eventually because I was enjoying the book alot before that and just decided to pretend those type of chapters didn't exist.
If you ever played an assassin's creed game is the same thing, you are just enjoying your game reaching some kind of climax in the story and bam you are sucked out and have to play some boring ass sequence in the future just walking around an office that completely breaks your immersion.

Wow, surprised I missed this till now. A surprisingly fresh litrpg/apocalypse story with good characters and world building. Plus a dash of smut while also willing to show just how monstrous people can be.
Three thumbs up!
