I really should like this but I don't. It has two really annoying side characters with almost the same annoying qualities so I'm gonna have to say pass for me. The whole manipulatve overlord/supreme entinty thing just sucks for me.

Wow, surprised I missed this till now. A surprisingly fresh litrpg/apocalypse story with good characters and world building. Plus a dash of smut while also willing to show just how monstrous people can be.
Three thumbs up!

So I just caught up and I have to say I have very mixed feelings about this one.
I honestly want to give it 5 stars but I can't because there is a plot line that absolutely ruins the story for me and that is the ashli plot line.
Honestly if it was ashli made the the world like this and died in the process then 5/5 cool story, cool power system, the kindom/faction building amazing but sadly like usual the author couldn't leave the most overdone trope in the genre alone.
People enjoy these kinds of stories because we want to see an MC struggle in a different environment and rise to the top. There's no need to be a big bad deus ex machin type character that just undermines everything.
Like why should anyone care about Hector when ashli is out there, why should I care about some dungeon run when ashli is out there.
Honestly I read through book one in one sitting the pretty much half of book 2 but when the big ashli reveal in book 2 happens I just put the book down and stopped, it sucked all the fun out of it for me. I did get back to it eventually because I was enjoying the book alot before that and just decided to pretend those type of chapters didn't exist.
If you ever played an assassin's creed game is the same thing, you are just enjoying your game reaching some kind of climax in the story and bam you are sucked out and have to play some boring ass sequence in the future just walking around an office that completely breaks your immersion.
