Tachibana Shota, a third year student coming out of a pathetic break-up just wants to enjoy his summer break peacefully and forget about his ex-girlfriend, Watanabe Chigusa.
Staying out late at an arcade, he stumbles across a drunk woman, Hanazono Mayuri-san who has nowhere to go. He ends up bringing her home and a series of interspersed meetings eventually leads to both of them falling in love quickly and tying the knot.
Going back to school after getting married, Shota finds that his ex is apparently still in love with him, demands they get back together, and that she's going to be living with him from now on!?
When Wife and Ex-Girlfriend meet, what is Shota to do?

This story is... complex. The writing is good quality and the characters are almost alive. it is, by all measures, a good book but it's definitely a bumpy ride. Hell, if it were harem, it would be so much easier but considering how adamant the author is that it isn't harem, even in the third volume, it ain't gonna happen.
There is some cheating/ ntr (mainly same-s*x stuff, and usually only borderline) which kinda sours the mood without actually delving deeply into that genre. I will say this now but I'm not a fan of ntr and I can read this but... it leaves a bit of a bad taste.
The characters are well fleshed-out and complex. They all have their issues and baggage and you get to know them as the story progresses rather than a fast and emotionless introduction.
The MC is a decent guy and tries his best in a complex and difficult situation. He is pushed into things which he doesn't want to do but at the same time, he is... weak. I personally don't like that about him. But at the same time, he can be unreasonably stubborn on the wrong things.
I'm personally beginning to dislike the wife (Mayuri) and don't really see what the MC sees in her. With everything the MC forgives, he's... yeah. I would think that he'd, not abandon--that would go against his character--but at least lose his blind and unconditional loyalty. Emphasis on blind.
Long story short, this isn't something I could tackle in one, or even a few, binge reads. I'd get about halfway through or maybe even all the way through a volume if I was lucky and dedicated, and need to take a long break (a month or more) to read some wholesome fluff, or even a brain numbing generic isekai, before chipping away at it again.
If you are looking for a comfort read, a comedic read or something similar, this isn't what you are looking for. If you are looking for an interesting read with COMPLEX relationships to unravel and a bit of softish ntr (i.e. there has been no stealing of women, either by or from the protag), this is what you want.
Now it's time for me to bugger off for the next few months before (maybe, maybe not) coming back for a few more chapters.
I honestly hope you enjoy it more than I did. I would give it a 5 for being a compelling read but it has quite a few things I don't like about it which would (at best) give it a 2 or 3, but I keep coming back to it despite that so I'll give a 3-and-a-half or 4 star rating overall.
Another final thing to address, is that the story does get fleshed out over time, not everything is given immediately. This has been noted is a couple of reviews that I read, in that there is a fair amount which is contrived, or there are plot holes (which are later filled). Maybe it is just the author covering their tracks, but I don't see that as a problem. It's better than blatantly ignoring them.
I'm gonna shut up and go now. Hope this helps.
