Their idyllic youth shattered by the last great battle of the Sengoku Era, Mei had to learn to use the blessing they received from a Kitsune to navigate as both a man and a woman working in the highly gendered and regulated world of Edo’s ‘Pleasure District’, Yoshiwara.
They’d found something of a balance after a few years. Then they met her. A woman they can’t help but love. Yet love can be deadly for an Oiran.
[Sex Worker protagonist. Warning that not all their clients are ones they want to deal with… wasn’t sure how to tag that, but thought I should warn people.]
As someone who has read the finished version. A wonderful story set in the Edo period of Japan, follows our protagonist who deals with the struggles of working as a geisha, finding love, and facing the hardships of the time period. Wonderful writing (Wich Beedok always is amazing at) and really shows her reach with writing a more serious story (compared to Harem Protagonist Was Turned Into a Girl's more whacky comedy and hijinks) and doing an excellent work with it. And for all of you looking for a gendery story, dont worry! Orchid of Edo has that too!
