I lost my job. You would think the first thing I would do is go out and search for a new job right? Instead I blew the last of my rent money on a sketchy looking occult tome, took it home, and used one of its summoning rituals. I admit, my intentions were impure at first, but the summoning ritual I performed from that book did not exactly go as i imagined. There's nothing magical about the world I live in so I wasn't expecting anything to happen, but somehow the ritual reenactment was successful and it dragged me out of my body and into a fantastical world I only ever thought could exist in stories or video games. I know I need to figure out a way to reverse this bizarre transfer of souls, but how can I do that when the demon I swapped with is the one who has the book I used?

Writing this review is painful. On the one hand... the writing style is good! The premise of this story is great! This is exactly the kind of story I usually love to read. Unfortunately, the characters are *infuriatingly* idiotic in their decision-making. I can't explain why without some spoilers, so here you go:
What would you do if you found your best friend doing something somewhat dangerous or suspicious? Would you maybe ask them what they are doing? Not the protagonists of this story. Instead, they immediately go to using FORBIDDEN MAGIC to ASSAULT their friend, knocking them unconscious. No questions were asked.
What would you do if you found out your best friend had a human soul transmigrated into their body, and they were less than an hour away from being teleported into a deadly fight? Maybe try to warn them about the fight, or give them a few quick tips for surviving? Nope, instead our character whines at them to serve them breakfast.
What would you do if you wound up in a deadly fight for which you had no warning or training, and you were offered the chance to either 1) Forfeit (at a steep monetary penalty) or 2) Fight and die. Our protagonist chose option 2.
What would you do if your best friend (now with a human soul inside) has been proven incompetent at everything -- most especially fighting and pretending not to be an imposter -- and now needs rest and some downtime to recover and learn the basics of survival in Hell? Maybe you would 1) Take her back home, get her to rest, maybe teach her what she needs to know, or 2) Take her directly into a very public area where she will be naked and vulnerable and will definitely make a lot of mistakes hiding her human soul. The characters in this -- both of them! -- chose option 2.
These are just the major bad decisions. There were many more minor bad decisions too. This is really impossible to read, and I cannot suspend my disbelief. All of these decisions were obviously for "plot" reasons -- the author had a sequence of events they wanted to play out and had to have the characters make the necessary bad decisions for that story to happen. And it's AWFUL. Authors, never never do this to your characters or readers. It does both -- and yourself -- a disservice. You can do better than this. It's OK if your characters make the occasional bad decision, presumably they are only human (or whatever), but give them their own mind and brain think with, not just a "plot brain". Come on!
