I’ve always been afraid of spiders.
The scholars call it Arachnophobia.
It would be wrong to call that feeling hatred.
I couldn't even come close to them much less cause any kind of harm.
They just utterly terrify me.
However, sometimes life forces you to face your fears.
Though, I would take any other option sometimes there simply is none.
You can't run away from yourself.
Even if eight legs carry you a lot faster than two.
brilliant play on a person's psychology and reactions.
Ever wondered if Kumuko wasn't so gung-ho about being a spider?
Ever wondered if it's possible to break somebody mentally?
Ever wondered if there's a protagonist who actually retains their humanity without going through the obvious routes of saving humans nilly-willy?

Perhaps it is too soon for a review, an analysis or a criticism. But knowing the other stories written by the author, I have to say that it will develop well.
What I like least about a story is that they have characters that are stiff and without "life" in a certain way or with backgrounds that do not fit with the character.
Don't open that problem here (as in the other 3 stories written by "expentio").
Personality development and the why of things, in my opinion, are well marked and argued. The actions or attitudes are "natural" and it does not seem that there are "forced winds". Well, one can perhaps say that it doesn't sound like the true panic attitude of an arachnophobe, but that's a minor point.
I like the narrative, It is not one of those dense books that takes 3 pages to describe things to you, it is easy to read, but not a "low" narrative level that seems to be written by a child. The story seems simple and pleasant, well, if you ignore the initial trauma of the protagonist or the crudest details of a monster.
By simple and nice, don't get me wrong, I mean the subject of "plot"... if one expects here a "revenge" or revenge adventure against the country or the kingdom. It's not that kind of novel or, so it seems.
characters 3, 5
yes, it has "life" and they are not stuffy, they are also well characterized from each other (at least the sisters), the main character is still a
"girl" and apart from the soldiers at the beginning and the parents there are still no other "characters" to compare. But if we talk about the author's other stories, due to the diversity of characters, I don't think there are any problems.
narrative 4
The narrative, as I said, is easy to read, it is neither too simple nor a professionally written novel, but one cannot complain when reading. Normally one would write a paragraph or a line to mention who is speaking or the dialogue expressions to know who is speaking and with whom, here it is marked with ( ) and the letter of the name of the speaking character. Simple, you can save description, but it is valid.
history 4
It promises to be a nice story in the "Slice of Life" genre, just ignores the issue of initial trauma and the normal attitude of a predatory monster. If a revenge story is expected, go and watch another novel.
It nor is he a "verseller" on the subject of complex history with sharp wink turns (or at least it seems so). But this kind of stable novels is also good (I emphasize, it is "Slice of Life" despite also being low in "action" genre)
world 3, 5
It is set in a European medieval fantasy world, swords and magic, although it is not known to what level. Although it seems that more mind will be developing in the "territory" of the arachnes and the "world" will be known by the knowledge or details that are told little by little, either by what they say, books or the "network" of information they have assembled.
Well, I think I said all there was to say in broad strokes. In my opinion, 4 stars.
