Laws

1. The Law of Two:

- There are only two ranks. The Sovereign, the ruling family, and the Citizens, the people living under the Sovereign. The latter is not forbidden from gaining wealth and power on their own merits, but in the Empire, no nobles exist besides the Sovereign.

- Loyalty to the ruling hegemony is the highest virtue.

3. The Law of Skill:

- All positions of power and influence should be filled with skilled members and masters of their crafts.

Control Crystals (CC)

The characteristics and rules of the Control Crystals, in short: CC.

  • No matter their size, they always weigh 1.5 kilograms
  • Smaller CCs degrade faster than bigger ones
  • A freshly mined CC is in a 'natural' state. After being used by a mage, this state permanently changes to match the mage's power. Example: Using CC to cast a fireball makes said CC to be synched up with fire-based spells. Using water-based spells with the same CC will accelerate its degradation and cause the spell to be less effective.
  • An already synced CC can't change its properties under any circumstances.
  • CC can and will store mana from a mage. Filling them simply requires the mage to hold them while meditating or circulating his/her mana. When they reach their full capacity, they stop absorbing. If they are emptied, they can be refilled by the same mage or a mage with the same ability. Every refill lowers their capacity and their effectiveness until the point of them shattering.
  • CC can be used actively and passively. Active usage means a mage casting spells through the use of CC. Passive usage means implementing them into formations. Active usage accelerates their degradation, while passive usage conserves their stability.
  • Formations drawn up by using CC became conductive. They are much easier to activate by simply the presence of mages, but they are less controllable and are susceptible to a variety of interference. Example: It is enough to draw a line into a formation like with a sword strike to make it unable to function further.
  • Charged CC can be used by magicless people. Example: Insert prepared CC into a formation to complete it, activating said formation.
  • CC that has been grounded into powder loses its conductive properties.
  • CC sizes from smallest to largest:
  1. Strands
  2. Pebble
  3. Fist
  4. Skull
  5. Human
  6. Gods' Tear

More to come if something new gets added to the story.

Ranks of Formations
  1. Basic

  2. Intermediate

  3. Adept

  4. Expert

    Status: chapter 132 - shock & awe

Extremely well written story. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets taken off the website because they put it on amazon for sale. Smart protagonist who gets reliable people to prop up his ideas for making a kingdom. World building is insanely detailed.

A bit slow for my taste but that's mainly preference. I would recommend this book if you're looking at the reviews.

I would say I enjoy this story, but also that I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.
    .
What the story does very well is set-up an interesting world to learn about, and to see how political intrigue and power plays are made back and forth between new and established powers. Balancing keeping competition at home appeased and enemies aborad at bay.
    .
Dialogue and character interaction is a bit shallow and paint by numbers, hitting a lot of the same story beats of isekai manga flooding the market. Vague mentions of some modern or japanese idea gets instantly applauded by supporting characters without any set-up that might explain this medieval society would value it. Everyone is an instant hot spring enjoyer type thing.
    .
As far as inventions and societal uplift go, think more season 2+ of Dr. Stone rather than Season 1. Most logistics and hard science get hand waved away for the sake of delivering a gag. Sometimes a good effort is put in, but other times the author's lack of a technical background shows through with misuse of words (not specifically, but things like interchanging energy & power, or heat with temperature).
    .
If you're looking for a civ builder isekai that doesn't get too nitty-gritty then this may be the story for you.
