In the future, there is a major war ravaging between two great nations. In a dropship that got shot down, an injured android crawls out of the ashes to find himself surrounded by the wreckage and remains of his fallen comrades and squadmates. His underlying will to survive is challenged by his injuries and his logical understanding of his purpose, as he faces the choice between letting himself die or finding the will to live. (That's what I have so far)

Update #1 (6/30/21) - I put quotations around "short-story", as it is a little long. It's probably going to separate into 3 parts (or chapters), and for now, I'm going to put in the first part and see what kind of feedback I get. Hope you guys like it. He lives in a ratty old Los Angeles apartment that, much like the rest of this once-great city, has experienced a significant decline in recent decades. He works at a fast-food restaurant called the Nintendo Café making less than minimum wage. His one big passion, the one thing keeping him going, is following the Animal Antics World Championships, held annually in Boston.
Imagine Austin’s surprise when, upon making a digital purchase from the Nintendo EShop, he receives a “Silver Ticket” that gains him entry to the championship. Soon, he’s whisked off to Boston, where he will enter the tournament. However, an organized criminal syndicate threatens to blow the whole thing up, possibly literally.
