The blizzard rises day after day in the Frostbanks, forcing numbing snow and deadly winds onto the land and its people. In defiance to nature itself, the city of Oglios stands amidst the storm and even thrives thanks to the Suntower's protection, an artifact of old now relegated to simple fixture, its secrets fiercely guarded by the Scorched Circle, whose members regulate the flow of Returned, husks of the departed, in and out of the city.

Part of the larger nation of Gonphar, Oglios has obligations to respect if it wants to keep its relative independence, and the city's elite busies itself to fulfill their orders, supplying Gonphar as a whole with cheap labor in the ways of countless Returned. Meanwhile, the specter of war rears its dreadful head from across the mountains as border tensions with the Ehodan Kingdoms increase. Yet most ignore the threat, having more pressing concerns right within Oglios where warmth is limited, and free space is at a premium.

Three individuals converge during these trying times, lost in their personal struggles.

The Echo, an outsider in several degrees, returns to a family still mourning their mother's passing to uncover her wrongdoings. He would fulfill a promise, and perhaps find himself in the process, all the while having to conceal who and what he is.
The Dutiful reaches into criminal matters by authority of the Office of Inquiries. Held by guilt over her choices, she struggles to make it day-by-day, turning to Nostalgia for release. A thirst for vengeance fuels her will and keeps her going towards the ultimate goal.
The Collector, a mortician by trade, dwells in opposite circles. Pulled by decades old ties to the Circle, he stays loyal to the city in his own way by moving through the underworld in order to uproot corruption.

This is a work in progress, obviously. I want this to be a fully fleshed out novel eventually. It has a lot of moving pieces and things I'm still figuring out which is mostly still in my mind but I still wanted to put it out there, and hopefully get some feedback! Some chapters will very likely end up getting scrapped from the final product as I dig further into the story, and I will also go back and revisit older chapters to fix grammar, continuity errors, etc.

After healing a bit he left the country, only to return years later being chased by “Ater Rex”… He died in explosion of dark flames, leaving nothing but a pitiful smoking ashes, that got swept off by the wind, later people were telling that his screams were so loud and painful that somehow must have reached the palace.
Origins of “Ater Rex” are unknown, as he appeared out of nowhere, gaining bad reputation after a long chase through the royal city, where in the end he spectacularly killed some recently disgraced royal official – a poor victim of political schemes. This started massive panic, as he later appeared in the castle, his entrance unnoticed by the guards… and he never takes off his mask...

And to make it worse, 'SYSTEM' happened, promising power and glory. After millennia, the dust has settled, more and more settled for a peaceful living. 

Wilhem Blackburn, now goes by Garm, wanted nothing of it. He was content with his life back on Earth. He wasn't ready to live a second on. Peaceful settling was it then! 

Peace was hard for Garm, especially when the top brass was set to wipe him out of existence. Little did they know he was nigh unkillable!

One of his friend still haven't logged off and heard what he said. After explaining things to his friend they logged out of the game and tired Bell gone straight to his bed. Magicians, a person with a genetic thing inside them that produce something that's been called magic. A very rare genetic occurrence, and it got more rare with time as these people were quite quickly rounded up by different governments and countries for various reasons.
Nana was one of these magicians.
She noticed that she had the gene at the age of 15 in an accident.
Magic wasn't really magic, it was named that since that's what it looked like when it was first observed so naturally people assumed that's what it was!
But, in reality, It's a powersource. A substance that's in your blood, created by a specific gene that started appearing in people... more>> all over the world. And depending on the gene you could be filled with more or less.
It’s like a rechargeable never dying battery. You can't lose it, you can just temporarily exhaust your magic and then have to wait for your body to produce more.
What your "magic" could accomplish or how much it could be used before reaching exhaustion differed immensely of course, just like the maximum amount that the body could hold differed wildly as well.
And depending on your genetics you could get better at using it, expand what you could do with it. Sort of like training your muscles and your brain. If you train a lot, new heights can be reached to a certain point.
It's a source of power that could be applied and used in potentially limitless ways…
And certain people observing the world from the future want to get their hands on these magic users to use for their own experiments, as the gene is rare and almost gone in the vast future, the one’s with extremely overwhelming magic power are being targeted...
You'll follow two different protagonists, viewing the story from two different sides.(eventually as we get chapter 2 out)

MagicGone is a collaboration between me and my brother Evald Rask. It's a work in progress and everything is subject to change/is not final until further notice.
