He is a pathetic meow meow and he knows it, although he will try to impress people by acting sneaky. And he will pick your locks within your eyesight, but won't steal unless he is sure you don't see him. But of course you know he took it, you just saw him eyeing that jewel. Does he fight well? Uh, yeah, if he prepares enough. But overwhelmed and with only his dagger? Well, he might get some stabs in, but the man isn't a swashbuckler or a fighter by any means. Watch him get his teeth kicked in over a misunderstanding at a bar or gamble away an adventure's earnings in a single game and then make at least enough back to buy a drink and go to sleep. But don't underestimate him because between using poisons and powerful scrolls, he is most deadly when prepared and using a bow. He may not have many spells either but enough to do some damage. Volume 1 - [Masked Ruin]

Life is precious.

Such is one of the "truths" the old have transmitted to the young since time immemorial.

It being the greatest treasure granted by either the universe or whichever entity/ies one might worship.

It being the most treasured possession of all that is capable of thought.

Its value is inestimable, they preach.

The act of taking it away? One of the heaviest and most punishable sins in almost all sapient civilizations you might find.

Though, most of the times, the act is truly frowned upon when the life ended was also part of said civilization... but now we're going off course...

So, what about the act of taking your own life? Is that also considered a sin? Does the value of your very life matter to the intricate man-made man-operated messy machine called society?

Answers will vary.

From some who won't even spare a glance, giving your very existence and its possible fates the evaluation of worthless in their eyes.

To some who will mark you as ungrateful of the miraculous gift, giving more worth to life itself than the one bearing it, branding whatever rationale for such action as the thought of an heretic.

And some who may do all in their power to find a reason, maybe forceful, maybe reasonable, to stop and make sure such action shall never be tried by you again.

Surely, there are more complex answers, that, I'm aware.

But.

Those answers represent one or many minorities, and the only destiny of a minority is to either be overwhelmed by the majority or find a way to become the majority, only to carry on with a cycle of the same nature over and over again.

Point is, taking your own life is always going to evoke clamors of many kinds, and some might even carry on with the act for that reason itself...

Adam Keirs held no such a plan.

None of what you're being told- no, reminded, found place to reside in his head since long ago.

What occupied his mind when he leaped off from that nine-story building was reminiscence and something else entirely.

Yet, as he had always been proved, fate never intended to follow his script of humble origin...

Stopped from embracing death by the hands of a masked, cloaked being holding immense power, he now has to follow along the - as he will soon start to call it - demon's script.

In celebration of it's 50th anniversary, The entire Quaraun Series - all 200+ previously published novels and 2,000+ previously published short stories are being released here, for the first time available free to read online.

Yes, this is a "reprint" of a book published in the 1970s. This is not new or being written, it was finished 50 and published years ago. All chapters are being uploaded on a release schedule, but the story is already finished and complete.

NOTE: Each “chapter” is its own short story that stands on its own. The collected chapters, as a whole, tell many facets of the events surrounding Quaraun’s life and the lives of his friends and family. As such, the “chapters” do not progress in a linear beginning to end fashion, rather, they move forward and backward in time, including time travel portal travel, and flashbacks. The full series spans a time period from 800A.D. to the year 2525, with stories zipping back and forth to any era between those years.

This means you can read each “chapter” on its own, in any order, without reading the ones before or after it, or can read them in any order you please, if you choose to do so.

It’s lots and lots and lots of short stories about one character and his friends and family. Every main character with in each story is somehow a friend or relation to Quaraun, even in the stories Quaraun himself does not appear in.

I’ve tried to make sure editing was complete before uploaded, but some typos or grammar errors may have slipped through. If so, I’ll edit those as I notice them.

Note: I am Scottish, and this book is written in my native language. NO, BoomFuzzy's dialogue is NOT a made up language it is a very real world language called Gypsy Cant also known as Scottish English also known as Gaelic- if you have trouble understanding him, there are plenty of Scottish English/Gaelic to American English Dictionaries out there. American English is not my native language, and this series uses Scottish English spellings and grammar. (No, this is NOT UK English or British English)
