Although the book series is written with adult and young adult audiences in mind, it is, in the tradition of such epics as “The Lord of the Rings,” suitable for all ages. ‘The Girl he Used To Know’ began life when I came across a rather silly prompt on a web-novel site I was using;
"Theme: My 2D waifu is now my real life Valentine's!?"
Well with a title like that I couldn’t help but be interested by the idea of leaving my usual writing niche and trying something a bit more novel.

Tying it loosely back to my main series ‘UnderCurrent’, ‘GUK’ was born as a standalone romance novella which you are now holding, styled with Japanese tropes in mind from a more western perspective.
I hope you will find this to be an interesting and fun read - Designed with the intent of being a somewhat contemplative and ‘cosy’ story - Whatever the case I thank you for picking it up and giving it a once over.

The whole affair seems to cry out for a gallant hero of old, or failing that a cunning diplomat, but he’s neither. Perhaps a lying scoundrel, which our lad definitely is, would have to suffice. He does ‘acquire’ a dagger that knows a dead language after all and that must count for something.

But instead, the Holy Faun saw fit to give her a child.

Upon their arrival in Aureate, Lalauri and Keridwen will have to face the threats and challenges that had been looming in the background while Lalauri was away. Threats that were only just barely fended off by the staff of Lalauri’s home, Imafenduwell Hall.
