A beautiful transfer student who joined Kazuki's class. A Nullity hunter, she took up that mantle in order to avenge her brother's death at the hands of the shadowy creatures. Despite appearing cold and distant, she eventually warmed up to Kazuki and his group of friends. Wields a sword Armament with the ability Crimson Lust.

The first of Kazuki's childhood friends and a member of the school's swimming club. A girl with a special affinity for the spiritual. Polite, gentle, and caring, she occasionally shows a much more clingy and jealous side. She holds Kazuki in high esteem. But is it just admiration?

Ace of the swimming club and Amagi's junior. Feisty and energetic, she brings about limitless energy. Very honest and encouraging of her friend's feelings. Shows familiarity with her senior and the heir of the Ishida Conglomerate, Reijy.

Voluptuous school counselor and an occasional substitute teacher. Lazy, haggard, and a tease, she nevertheless shows concern for her students. Quite knowledgeable with Mu and Nullities. She wields a necklace Armament with the ability Yata no Kagami.

Spiky-haired youth who has bonded with a pale woman named Setsura. Most notable traits of his include a missing right arm when outside a Fragment and a lust for power and dominance.
Satoru (with regular human arm)
Setsura
A parallel dimension that can be accessed through portals by certain people. With its heavy atmosphere, it is a place housed by Nullities.
The various pocket dimensions that are part of Mu. While Mu is the parallel world, Fragments can be described as individual "dungeons" of that world that may or may not connect to one another.
Shadowy creatures that take various forms and reside in Mu's Fragments. Said to be manifestations of human emotion.
An empowered person who has gained access to Mu and can manifest a spirit weapon known as an Armament.
Spirit weapons that can be summoned by Awakeners. All of them come with a unique combat ability connected with its wielder's inner desires.

An objectively better written, and better paced, volume than the previous. Volume 2 of Fractal Plane is a happy continuation for fans of the previous; expanding on the world, and the characters.
The main focus of this volume is Amagi, her insecurities, doubts, and sense of inferiority. I think this aspect of the volume was the most well thought-out, fleshed out, part of the whole. The only thing I would say that would have improved her story (yes, this volume is her story) is giving the audience just a bit more of a glimpse into hers and Arata's past. It is in cases like this where flashbacks, which tie into the volume, are optimal.
Though Shiki still remains the weakest link of the 'main group', having the least development, due to little screen time, and the audience rarely if ever having been put into his mind like the other characters, I was pleasantly surprised that he received a worthwhile scene in the novel befitting his person.
Yet, the volume still has the same gripes as before. The tenses still shift from time to time, and the fight scenes are not something I feel engaged in. The latter, however, could more so be a matter of taste than the author's skill as a writer; because, although not paced well for my liking, they are very emotionally driven, like the rest of the story, which is a rarity in this medium, and done well in that aspect. Here, fights build and expand on character.

Best girl receives a weapon to save herself and her friends from danger. I really liked how Amagi didn't concede and hate her childhood friend even though its clear how much of a jerk he is.
Seriously, refusing a confession from the best girl? How dare you!
Overall, this is a solid volume with the weak boy Satoru turning into Guren from Owari No Seraph.
Other background characters are given depth and are well written as well.
