Magic in Warcraft (Basic Primer)

Basic Primer for those interested in Warcraft Magic. Very basic explanations.

Their is no one type of magic, but several equally viable types of magic. Each with their pros and cons.

Arcane: the power of Order. Arguably the most powerful of all the magic types, but also the hardest to master. Can do almost anything so long as you have the knowledge and power to execute the spell. The most traditional type of magic in the setting.

Nature: power of Life. Almost wholly used by druids. Manipulating nature, communing with animals, shapeshifting into animals, communing with forest sprits, and healing corruption. Also allows access to the Emerald Dream, a primordial realm of nature that connects to every dreaming mortal on Azeroth.

Holy: power of Light. Dedicated to healing, protecting, and striking down the wicked. You physically cannot use this magic if you intent to harm innocents. If the caster believes, even for a second, that the spell will harm an innocent, the spell fails. Full Stop. The caveat is that its all based on perspective. If the user genuinely thinks that a person is wicked, even if they are objectively innocent, then they can call down the light to strike them down. That's how fanatical groups like the Scarlet Crusade can go around slaughtering entire villages with Holy magic.

Fel: power of Chaos. Demon magic. Fire and brimstone. Fueled by souls. Highly corruptive to the user. Most stereotypically evil type of magic. Arguably the easiest magic to accumulate lots of power very quickly with. Also the easiest power to lose control of and kill yourself with, not counting when your demon sugar daddy come knocking for that soul you promised.

Death: power of Death. Necromancers. Basically necromancers and death knights. Command the legions of the dead. Control and inflict festering plagues and epidemics. And even achieve pseudo immortality by becoming a Lich. Also, continually use will eventually rot the user from the inside out.

Shadow: power of the Void. Power of insanity and mental corruption. Very powerful. also very dangerous to the user. Primary magic of the Old Gods (Warcraft Cthulhu) and their servants. Users just as likely to become jabbering mad men as they are to wield destructive power. Look into the abyss, and the abyss stares back.

Elemental: Magic of the elements (Fire, Air, Water, Earth). Shaman magic. The quirk is that the power is not 'yours'. It's the elemental you've formed a pact with. No risk of corruption, insanity, or anything bad for the user. Worst thing that could happen is an elemental refuses to lend you their power. Said elementals may also refuse to work with a shaman who is in pact with an elemental of an opposing element.  A shaman with all four elements at their call can be called both an powerful magic user and an accomplished mediator.

Note that mages or other magic users are not restricted to only using one school of magic. Mixing and matching tends to lead to more powerful magic users, but you still have to deal with the ups and downs of both systems.

For example: Priests can use Holy magic to heal and Shadow magic to attack. Warlocks tap into Fel and Shadow magic for greater power but are doubly vulnerable to being corrupted in both body and soul. Druids cast both Arcane and Nature magic to offset the deficiencies of both.

Well, wow... This is an extremely well written story. The characters are interesting, emotions are well described and relatable, the world building detailed and the lewd sections are intense (maybe even a little over the top).  The fact it is the author's first work is extremely impressive.

This is the story of a guy reincarnated in a female elf's body in the elven capital city in the World of Warcraft.  She realizes this and realizes that if she doesn't do anything her, her city, and her mother will be killed in the massacre of the city in a decade. But what is she going to do as a baby and who would listen to her about it when others know her as the daughter of as simple prostitute. Plus there are gods in this world and not all of them friendly... Or even sane.

Note: I never played warcraft except wc3 15 years ago and I didn't pay attention to the names at the time.  That has not mattered as a just a understanding that humans and elves vs orcs through the gate portal was enough.

The story does not focus on the gender bending too much which I prefer since I think other things would catch your attention (like being a baby again and the possibility of a war killing everyone)

I love the depth of the characters involved.  They all have emotions (anger, embarrassment, fear, arousal) and feel like they are making decisions a person would make considering both logic and their emotions.

I love the exploration of the seedy side of the elves and what it is like for a low class girl.

The lewd scenes are quite common and well done even if it is a bit strange that women universally seem to desire it more than men. (It is nice they want it, but strange the men are less involved)

The fights so far are fairly good and involve her training being used to good effect, not magically being better which is great.

      Suggestions:

      Spoiler

I would recommend that you have her start a overarching plan as if she does nothing she will die and she knows it. At the moment she is a small girl who can't be expected to do much, but the effort of trying to find a way to save herself and mother would give us a over arching mission to work on. She also needs to try to do something about her mind and she knows that too. She doesn't need to have the answers, but showing us she is trying to work on it would help us connect and feel less disjointed.

Also, your chapters are good, really good. Don't over think them.  However a more descriptive novel description might let people know more.  I am always afraid of fanfics vs originals, but you don't rely too much on the reader knowing all that and so try to explain the premise so others can follow.  Specifically a few more specific details on the setting like my description might help help those get invested.

But as always, you are the author and it is your work and you are doing a great job so far

Guy gets isekai’d into a Quel’dorei baby girl. So far, it’s been about him (her) growing up. Learning about the world, about him (her) self, and about magic. It’s very well written and each chapter has been a treat. When this story is complete, I would be willing to pay for an ebook of it. Author, whatever it is you do for work, consider being a writer!
