Join Lin Feng in his daily normal life.
The cover isn't mine, I found it on Pinterest, if the artist wants credit or removal. Please say so.
Starts slow, but slowly gains traction. The book is about an Op MC that is oblivious to his powers, not a new concept in itself but no story is exactly the same.
I think the author might have rushed it by introducing powerful beings earlier, but who knows? Maybe the author has a plan. Anyway I'll definitely be reading this
Would recommend it to people that like the strong protagonist from start genre and maybe to those who want a break from the usual cn.

Call of the Dao has the potential to be a hidden gem. It reminds me of "I'm Actually a Cultivation Bigshot" and "Beware of Chicken." One; because the MC, Lin Feng, is unknowingly OP and has a great many talents, and two; because he chooses to settle down somewhere remote.
Therefore, it's really a shame that the author has chosen to time skip so many gold nuggets for potential character development, where he could flesh out both the MC and the side characters. In the early chapters, when he leaves the sect and family to go somewhere remote, we suddenly find ourselves 5 years later, where a great many things have happened and we glimpse that there are a lot of spiritual beasts that have taken residence with him. This is why it's a shame, because it's these kind of developments, where we following the character in how the MC establishes himself and how things came to be, is what I find most interesting.
There are some minor inconsistencies in the beginning of the story; mainly, why the MC suddenly chose to leave the sect and go somewhere remote. We're told that it's because he wants to verify a dream that he had, but any normal person would return home once this conjecture has been proven, not stay at a random abandoned building he finds on the top of a mountain. Furthermore, he never questions why his sect has disappeared, or where his parents have gone. This could be explained away, but the issue is that the author never addresses it, leaving the reader to question the thoughts of the MC and his intentions. I hope the author can fix this.
From chapter 15 there are hints of a few budding love interests, and I truly hope that the author will focus on the romance. More worrying is that there are also hints that the MC is a romantically dense protagonist, which I really hate. Okay, hate is a strong word, and dense protagonists are okay, as long as it doesn't become like a Japanese beta MC, who never takes initiates and becomes flustered once a girl takes interest. So I hope future developments will gradually mature the MC from being a bit naive/dense, to learning how to take action and gets the girl - thereby becoming a true alpha. Reject beta, go alpha!
I foresee great potential if this novel focuses on a slice of life aspect, with romance to spice things up, a bit of face slapping/grinding villains to dust with his OPness, and some comedy to top things off. This is why I'll give the novel 5* - its an enjoyable read.

I really wanted to like this novel. But the entire plot is so convoluted that it jumps from one line of thought to the next. Encounters are forced to suit storylines that are non-existent. One minute he is on a mountain, the next he is traveling the world, and the next he is in another universe entirely. All in the span of 5 chapters.
The cultivation realms are not explained at all and seem to have no relevance as people are made whatever realm the MC dictates. One minute the MC is some saint and the next he is the Ancient One, ruler of everything and nothing. Creator and destroyer of universes.
The so-called harem is a forced joke. The females instantly fall in love with him due to some magical aura bullsh*t and the MC having forced handsomeness. Which is chalked up to all the harem being "inexperienced in matters of the heart due to not really knowing other men". They even show a willingness to have s*x in the same chapter they are introduced to MC. Though the MC is not aware of this in the first 20 chapters due to being a dense dumbass.
The sad thing I was enjoying the story until Author tried to force his MC to develop. By forcing memories on him from his supposed True Self. All in all, this is just a poorly done attempt at forcing together the concepts of I really am a Cultivation bigshot, Beware of Chicken, and other such tropes. Btw his harem from his true self keeps appearing. But only in those PoV changes. Where they talk about how they are waiting for MC to awaken. No relevance at all.
3 stars due to some cool stuff that happens and the writing being of excellent quality. I have a lot more complaints but seeing as I have the attention span of a dog I have forgotten the other ones. Hopefully I can edit this after.

a very good story where the MC is dense but not stupid enough to not see when a woman is interested in him. The MC is powerful and not a coward. He do not kill every people who are against him for no reason. This story overall is good to pass time ! So don't hesitate to read it !
Sorry, english is not my primary language.
