Book 2 Back Cover Blurb:

Merlabria, the crown jewel of the Mercan League, it’s beauty and splendor unmatched upon Syroneika. However, not everything is as it seems, foul intentions are afoot, and the city hides many secrets. The two princes vie for dominance, accruing power and swaying the nobles. Yet the Archon refuses to name an heir inviting more chaos, for a pit of snakes has no shortage of vipers.

Trapped between competing interests the Scholar and his retinue remain wary, the trip has been filled with danger, and their enemies willing to kill. A private meeting with the Archon could resolve these concerns, yet the Archon has plans of his own, whether these plans coincide with that of House Amyntas remains to be seen. The Scholar will have to make many decisions affecting the lives of those around him, all the while training a fledgling Niko to better control his newfound abilities lest they threaten to consume his body.

Many things swirl within the web of conflict, with many shadowy forces moving in the peripheries. Yet a rapid return home to the safety of Temrenos may not be as safe as one might assume. Winter is upon the horizon and dark clouds form; this season promises to be more unforgiving than the last… and it will take all the wits the Scholar and those under his command have, to come out intact. For the Encroaching Roots of the wicked promise but two things, death, and destruction.

Very good book with excellent writing. The description of the fights and and overall atmosphere is excellent. I look forward to the kingdom building aspects. Keep it up.

P.S. Consider spreading to multiple sites to have a wider coverage. I had to make an account here to post this.

Status: b2 chapter 61: in death as...

It is a good story with a beautiful writing style. The first chapter was interesting but I almost dropped it between the second and third chapters as I felt somewhat lost with the time skipped. Thankfully, I did not miss this story and kept on reading. The plot quickly deepened and every character became more interesting. The story is original, there are many commonly used themes, tags but they had been combined in a great way.

Another reason why I will keep on reading is that the character development was well done.

There is a layer of mystery covering some of them and it keeps me guessing.

Finally, the theme, slow romance, the romance is very slow, I think that it will make it seem more realistic.

I forgot to mention that I was pleased by the fact that women were not made too dumb or weak in this story. During the emotional moment, the speeches are somewhat... I mostly skip them, thankfully they happen only when necessary and don't slow the flow of the stories.

For this point, I feel that I am the one at fault because most of this speech makes sense with the context of the story.

I need to say my Thanks to the author The Eternal Scholar. I hope that this story will receive all the deserves that it deserves
