Nicholas is a sixteen-year-old mage in training when the future comes looking for him. They tell him he’s not going to be a great man, his son is. They tell him he’s going to die, a mere footnote in a grand tale of overcoming odds and right versus wrong.
Except Nicholas doesn’t care overly much about being great, or living a long life, he just wants to have fun with his friends. Evil high mage who? Time travelling son where? But it's becoming a bit difficult to ignore things when the high mage is spreading his influence over the world and Nicholas' son is toppling governments.
Honestly, Nicholas is an optimist so…things could be worse.
beautifully written plot and characters. Each character is so three dimensional and interesting, that you can't help but want to know more about all of them—even the ones you don't like. The magic world mixes seamlessly with the nonmagic world, and there are so many diverse and unique settings without anything feeling overwhelming. Well paced. This grabs your attention right from the first chapter and you won't be able to stop reading!

Read the tags, read the synopsis, and if they sound cool to you, you should love it! Story's great, characters and character dynamics are fleshed out and fun. Strikes a *very* nice balance between whimsy and worldbuilding in my opinion that doesn't bog you down at all, but isn't entirely reliant on standard fantasy settings or tropes etc. The characters are really at the heart of the story though and as I said, they're well-realised.
