Kato spends his days as a mercenary, until one day a mission goes awry. During the last steps of his mission, he is betrayed by his employer and is shot for dead. Left to the whims of fate. He awakes in a pit of corpses, and wakes up as Robert Oswald, an Enforcer working for the Commission Against Supernatural Entities who has fallen after going after a den of cultists.
Now a member of CASE, Kato must adjust to his new residence in a city-state known as Saint Lucius, a city where corruption and crime runs rampant despite its peaceful exterior. If not for one of the many crime syndicates on the City, Kato also constantly finds himself at odds with the declining supernatural entities and the occult.
As he struggles to abandon his past—and adjusting to this alternate world where some things are different from what knew off. He must quickly find the resolve to accept his place in this world and his new identity.
But things doesn't simply go his away...

While it starts a little rough around the edges, the plot and characters easily make up for it and the writing just gets better and better. It also manages to balance character and plot quite well. Definitely worth a read.
Lastly it does something that most stories screw up very well (and twice at that!).

I didn't like the ending at all.
