Eva Diaz, a marine biology student, has always loved the sea and the orcas that call it home. This makes her summer job a dream come true for the struggling university student. When an opportunity arises to check out her uncle's current project, a very rare specimen of cetacean, in the top-secret research facility of Ocean Land, she can't resist learning more. Except this specimen is a lot less whale and a lot more creature of myth. Mermaids shouldn't be real yet now it's her job to befriend one. Gripped by uncertainty she must choose whether to be a warden or to heed the call of the orca’s serenade.

So I was asked to peer review this book, and I must say that it turned into a lot more than a peer review. I mean it is such a good read.

The characters, the premise, the formatting, the dialogue, the descriptions, the settings, it felt like I was reading a real, published novel. I don't think it gets much better than what EP wrote. I know it sounds redundant, but I just want you to know that I am SO impressed by her writing.

Normally I stray from GL, but I've always had a liking for mermaids, and I must say this did not disappoint. I'm a very finicky person, and I couldn't find any problems to critique. Arguably one of the top 3 books I've ever read on scribble, and that's amazing considering my dislike for gl.

I've seen the whole captured person to friends with captor type thing before, several times, amd that's exactly what this story is about. But EP manages to tell it so well.

There are pov switches every other chapter though. However, this is one of the few stories where the pov change is acceptable, and I actually look forward to the next chapter for the pov switches.

All in all, it's very hard to point out anything wrong, whether it be plot or grammar. What we have here is a 6/5 story that deserves so much more attention. This belongs on a pedestal somewhere. I highly recommend you read it for the emotional journey that never ends.

This has a nice premise! One is a royal orca who was kidnapped and another is a girl who will uncover the mysteries of evolution by working with this orca. So far, I'm enjoying getting to know the characters we've been introduced to and the growing tension as I wait for our two MCs to meet for the first time. The only reason I haven't given this a 5 was because the plot and prose haven't fully gripped me just yet. Regardless, I still do recommend this story to anyone into mystical beings with familial ties, science experiments and enemies to friends because I get the feeling that that's what is gonna happen between our two protagonists :)
