While there is a real Ogawa in Japan, the one in the story is not meant to directly represent it. Based on collaborative research, Ogawa hints at locations in the Kyushu island of Japan and the Kagoshima Prefecture, Ichikikushikino in particular. I'm also partial to the Wakayama Prefecture even though it doesn't match all of the details. Yamaguchi without as many islands.
