Sara wakes up in a place she doesn't recognise, not remembering what happened to her, or how she might have gotten there. And soon discovers she isn't in a body she recognises either. Not even a human body!
The world she finds herself in is from a newly released VRMMORPG called Moorhold Online, and she has to figure out how she wants to live her new life.
I started posting this on AO3, and that will probably remain my priority, but formatting options are somewhat limited over there, so I wanted to see if this place would offer more in terms of letting me make the story to look as I want it to.
The text is somewhat updated over the original edition, but it isn't quite a v2.0. More a v1.1.
I am really not familiar with how this site works, so I don't know if I've handled the tags and everything correctly.
Real life issues have interfered with things on the writing/posting front, but I hope to still be able to post once or twice a week. Hopefully things will pick back up eventually.
A delightful story about a person well.. Thrown into a wolf mob. In some circles, it might be a rather tried and stale formula, but it manages to remain charming in this case.
The protagonist, Sara, has a rather helpful relation with a critical part of system. This makes the normal unfeeling, impersonal mmo genre feel remarkably different. The world she lives in feel like something that is growing and evolving rather than simply existing.
She has a rather overpowered quirk of her own that allows the rapid learning of skills, but it isn't used in the usual sense. She's not out stomping on everyone and acting out the typical rpg wish fulfillment. She's not completely alone, mindlessly fighting endless hordes of monsters. She relaxes. She explores. She tries to chat with the locals. It feels a lot more like she's growing than simply leveling for the sake of it.
The world itself is still being fleshed out, but it's quite charming seeing the reactions of some mobs when they are capable of thought. Impromptu change on a wide scale on the side of the mobs is something that's not explored often!
As far as criticism goes? The opening premise is a little weak, but it's still better than truck-kun. And while it's admirable that she can't use every skill she obtains, the list itself is starting to become a little bloated. Thankfully there are skill consolidations..
All in all, I sincerely recommend giving this a try. I hope that it goes on for a while, and doesn't simply end if Sara ever gets a humanoid form. This story has a lot of potential, especially if it continues to grow and evolve with Sara's deceptively simple actions.

I started reading over on AO3. One of my favorite novels, and not just because I like wolves. It's legitimately funny, yet interesting.

So far the story is funny.
If I were MC I would probably try to gain every new skills I could find and level up them to max, but I am not so I will just read this story and enjoy it.

The story is lovely, the slow beginning makes sense because of MC slowly getting used to be a wolf mob with a different body and everything, one of my favorites parts are the hilarious moments of the player forum, cause we can see it happening easily in real life when playing a game and discovering something from a bug in the game, to the AI acting different making the story immersive with a complex game world.
Truly this story is great, the MC is seen from being awkward and shy to slowly getting out of her shell, have a great/nice dynamic with the wolf mobs, really, all the wolf mobs are just too cute, MC included.

It reminds me of the leggendaryy mechannic. VR, overpowered MC with progression, player reactions, quests, world change, it only needs epic conflicts with epic resolutions which should come later.
MC's true identity intrigue is barely starting so we'll see how it goes.
