The Corrupted Gamer: Harry Potter is the newest of prolific author Bokuboy's series to be released on Scribblehub.
I'll freely admit to being a big fan of BB and have read all (I think?) of his works that are on here and RR to date.
I'd highly recommend that you check out his works- if you end up liking his writing style as I do, you will have a great many stories to sift through.
In this fanfiction we explore what would happen if Harry awakens to a Gamer system that helps him through his awkward years and corrupts him in his pursuit of leveling up the system. Harry is definitely more savvy- and potentially Slytherin-y in this one. Currently on C07- looking forward to more!
Honestly, bokuboy's best work. Unlike his many other stories the first relationship is permanent without any unfaithfulness.
There was a point where I even thought a harem would be forming but was pleasantly surprised to see the fluffy relationship with the female lead stay strong and true.
The pacing was excellent even though the majority was in the first year. The Grammer and spelling was unblemished..
I wish I had more chapters or this turned into multiverse scenario. The ending was very satisfying even so.
Having near binged read this over the last few days, I thoroughly enjoyed this. Expect a rollicking good read, a lot of clever humour and a well paced and logical plot. Definitely worth a read even if you aren't a Harry Potter fan, you don't need to be to enjoy this tale of romance and revenge.
Harry is probably not like the movies (not that I saw all of them and even remembered much of the first few I did go to) but I don't care, Bokuboy created a very believable character, one with nuance and depth, with flaws and strengths and valid motivations for what he does and, best of all, actually as clever as his "stats" are supposed to make him.
The supporting cast were also great, well rounded and not all the same as each other which makes for great interactions besides their interaction with the MC.
I started this on a whim one day when I was too lazy to go looking for something else. I have a bit of a mixed relationship with Bokuboy's stories. I both love and hate them because of seperate parts, but overall they are put together well enough that I keep reading. Not so here.
No, this turned into one of my favourite Harry Potter stories of all time. My single complaint is that there isn't more of it. This was a wonderfully fun story that I enjoyed from start to finish. The main story was great. The epilogue was great, everything here was great.

As for the more "review" type stuff...I treat this as a crackfic. Harry is rediculously OP and the world just lets him do whatever he wants. This is fine because it's more fun that way. Harry gets away with quite a few things he probably shouldn't but once again, it's funnier that they work. I think the love interest is wonderful and the chemistry that have is fantastic. I want to give an especially big thumbs up to how they handle a few specific aspects I will now spoil.

Spoiler
How they deal with Parvati as the twin. The date that didn't work was wonderful. I think how they handled Hermione's proposition was funny and mature. I think that the fact they waited so long to do the s*x but slept together for years was adorable and heartwarming. I had some worries that Padma might turn out to be one of the unfaithful that show up in other Bokuboy stories but I'm pleased to note that is not the case.

In conclusion. If you're looking for a fun romp in the Harry Potter world that doesn't take itself seriously and has a dash of romance, this is THE book for you.
I've read other Boku stories and I've to say, this one makes the MC a bit too OP. However, HP with a gamer system makes things very interesting and surprisingly a new FML without Harem.. And yes of course, dumdum gets what he deserves. That's always a pleasure to read!
Amazing start. But then the relationship stuff was just incredibly off putting for me, why are you focusing so much on 11 year old's? You don't have to force in relationships.
Spoiler
At least you acknowledged it at one point from the character's pov that it's ridiculous they're getting married..

Frankly I found it weird and off putting, why so much focus on it? Harry also became way too ridiculously powerful instantly.
