Status: chapter 14: plans within plans

I just found Heart of the Party a few days ago and it has quickly become my most anticipated serial.

I love the characters, their interactions, and what little we know of the world and monsters. The explicit scenes are sensuous, hot, and realistic (and I wish my own writing was half as convincing).

I like that Evelyn is an under-powered support character that has to rely on a team of friends, unlike most isekai stories, and look forward to future companions joining the group and expanding their capabilities and influence. She does seem a little overconfident for someone new to the world, but her impulsiveness just adds to her charm.

If I had any complaint, it would be the first person, present tense narrative style, which I usually avoid because it feels awkward (to me), but within 3-4 chapters it started feeling like a natural part of Evelyn's voice and now I can't imagine it otherwise.

In short, you should give it a read. :)

Trying to sum up everything I like about this story without just saying "this is good, you should read it." is incredibly difficult. That said... This is good, you should read it.

My absolute favorite part of this story is the characters. I think their inner lives and desires are well thought out, their narrations all feel different, and I personally love how their temporal displacement affects them. Before I found the Glossary (which is fantastic and has images of the characters in addition to blurbs about them), I already had a pretty solid idea of when they came from just due to how they see the world and interact with other characters. One of my particular favorites is how Liv conceptualizes her skills, which is explored in Chapter 22.

Furthermore, I think you've done an excellent job seeding future plotlines and I want to know more. How does the main character's functionally miniscule mana pool, but comparatively massive efficiency at casting spells affect her growth going forward? How does their efforts to overthrow this small town go? Are we going to see the bee girl again I like the bee girl she seems sweet :))

All in all, this is a fantastic story that I hope you come back to at some point in the future, but I will be thinking about this story in all my writing going forward.
