In the mid-2000s, eleven-year-old Robin Brush lives in the commuter belt village of Stanstead Abbotts in Hertfordshire, England. He suffers constantly from being bullied, ridiculed, or misunderstood by almost everyone. Forced to live an isolated life as an outcast, he doesn't even have any friends to play with. At school, his teachers fail to understand his railway-centric world, which further isolates him. Additionally, he deeply misses his old friend, Justin.
A glimmer of hope appears when Robin's new neighbour, Timothy, enters his life. The two boys discover they share similar interests, and a friendship blossoms between them. However, even with this newfound companionship, Robin's troubles persist. Timothy is several years younger than him, which his father doesn't approve of. It also doesn't help when he endures escalating taunting from his bullies. He is left questioning why he is so different from everyone else.
As Robin begins high school, his struggles are finally noticed by his teachers. A referral finally brings some light to the end of the tunnel, as he yearns to find solutions to his problems. Yet, amidst these new challenges, Robin finds himself facing a difficult choice regarding his friendship with Timothy. <<less
