In Rhythm of Rampage, the enigmatic Golden Knight arrives in Ravenhide, a city plagued in the dark hours by various forms of supernatural life forms. He enlists as a bounty hunter and early on his path crosses that of Blaze, a woman with deep psychological wounds and a sharp pair of blades.
They become professional partners, pooling their talents to kick demonic ass and search for the elusive clues to the true identity of the Golden Knight - or GK for short. Some of GK's abilities suggest that there could be something monstrous about his aspect. The mysteries of Ravenhide are interwoven with harsher realities on another world - the cruel dystopia of Sinners Planet.
One of the best things about the story is a truly fascinating bestiary of monsters. Most of these tend to hide under the camouflage of human skin. And that can be downright twisty. It keeps the pace tight and drives the mystery and action of the story. It makes you question the nature of nearly every character, including the Golden Knight himself. This fluidity of internal logic is reminiscent of a computer game world, where an occasional shuffling of reality can bring new elements into play. The two main characters are clearly drawn. GK is defined by his underlying compassion, whereas Blaze hides troubling memories beneath an abrasive, wise-cracking exterior. Rhythm of Rampage is an entertaining, action-packed read, especially for fans of sword and sorcery or SF noir."
