Laura was just a curious and imaginative 12 year old girl, she had spent her entire life in a secluded village with her mother. Despite the tranquil surroundings, Laura yearns for adventure beyond the village borders, especially in the grand capital city. But one fateful day, her life takes an unexpected twist. As Laura grapples with this newfound revelation, her journey of self-discovery unfolds, leading her down a path she never could have imagined.
I read this story hoping it’d be a decent read. That there would be a balance between the tragedy and the hypothetical little happy moments, to strike a nice balance that wouldn’t drive the reader away immediately. Yeah, that’s not what happened. The only happy portions were in the prologue. After that, it was just relentless misery. The main character constantly tries to be a good person, keep a grip on humanity, but is hunted and enslaved for it. I despise stories where the main character is enslaved, and the relentless mockery from literally every other character just makes me as miserable as the protagonist. Unless you enjoy constant mental anguish, don’t read this.
