Cutting to Life is a slow-burn LitRPG with a villainous (later anti-hero, or maybe still villainous, haha) female lead.

It's told from the perspective of Nikola, an NPC within the World of Wills who's become sapient and is now mysteriously able to play the game as a PC. It's quite light for a LitRPG, but the system and stats become more of a focus later when Nikola herself can access them.

The story gradually builds into a Battle Royale where the players' lives are on the line (if you die in the game, you die in real life), and only one party of savvy adventurers can win. They'll have to spend their time and stats wisely as dungeons promising rare gear float down from the sky - but is a legendary sword worth killing someone for, knowing they'll stay dead forever?

- This story is told in third person, past tense.
- This is a slow-burn LitRPG that spends a lot of time establishing its setting and characters, because I believe this will make for a better payoff in the end. As such, the Battle Royale doesn't start until chapter 30 or so.
- Chapters are anywhere between 800 words and 3000 words long.

It's a funny story about how this came to be. I have a good friend who is really into fanfiction, I'm a close friend of the family and my friends teenage daughter wrote herself into a web novel to come out to her parents. It's not posted anywhere because she is really shy, but she let me read it. I am a huge patron of the arts, so I was very moved by her whole story. I thought it was an amazing way to overcome the stressful issue of coming out to your parents. Ever since then she always complains how there are not enough decent girl/girl stories out there. So, I asked her to recommend a few to me she liked and tried to write this for her. I pulled a lot of inspiration from two of the stories that I enjoyed myself.

I thought both were great and I decided to try to write a story my friend would enjoy based on her and my tastes. I have a background in writing but nothing like this, so I decided to give it a try. It has been years since I have written anything and It's always important in the arts to try to break out of your comfort zone and try new things. I have already written over a hundred thousand words and just need to edit everything. Thrown into a prison facility just like the rest of the criminals, Ace had no choice but to take part in this survival game where players who suffered in-game deaths would surely follow a similar fate in real life.

But that wasn't all, since the players were in another world, the inhabitants of Earth had already forgotten the players even existed. Now what will he do since both his mother and sister had forgotten all about him?
