In this urban fantasy novella, you will follow Julius. He sells water filtering systems in Algeria. There is a slight hitch with that, the systems are knockoffs. So, one night, a vampire local comes to him, and attacks him in retribution. That sends Julius on a journey to find aristocratic vampires, who can show him the ropes. How come the vampire who turned him can't do it?
A vampire turning another into a vampire is deadly for them. Follow Julius as he travels, and ends up in Hungary, where he meets Ferenc. The very picture of an aristocratic vampire. There is another problem in Julius's life, though. He is fat, and Ferenc is so out of his league, that it is not even funny.
The novella has been written in 1st person, by the perspective of a blogger narrator. It is complete. The updates will be daily.
Disclaimer: This is a comedic piece. Nothing inside of it has been written with the intent to insult someone. Not that I did more than point out some things about my own country, and some commonly known stereotypes.
So, far, so entertaining. The pace never lets up, and each chapter brings the characters more to life, so you feel like you are getting to know them as you read, which is as it should be, with no major info dumps or long-winded backstories.
The humour is gentle and snarky, with observations I'm pretty sure most people could relate to - there were a few bits that had me nodding in agreement - 'yup, been there done that!'
The romance is s*xy but sweet, with that nervousness and uncertainty you get with new relationships (vampires may be immortal but they still have to get to know knew people), with some more kinky stuff mixed in. Not too graphic; if you're looking for p*rn this isn't it, but hot all the same.
I love the recounting of travelling too, again, can totally relate.
The tone is chatty, just like a blog would be, and the two readers are hilarious.
Overall, really entertaining read.
