ok I feel like the author's sinopsys is a little wrong, the MC is cruel yes, but he is not super evil, I started reading reluctantly. I thought it would be those novels where the MC is a villain for being a villain, but no, he's not a villain, he's not an anti-hero either.
Think of it like this, you have a very blurred moral compass, you have the ability to make friends but your hobby is the most important thing of all, in his case it is acquiring knowledge And conquer realities (basic and easy)
The author does not overdo the gore, I'm not going to say that gore has a motive (I never feel that gore has a motive) but it's very well fitted, it's just like when he's pissed off or having a little fun (and when it's for fun it's not too heavy).
