Each foxtail stands for a newly gained and often unique Magic ability. Foxes gain their tails through passing their own Magics exams, where they prove their own magic that they can wield thier new ability. These are often dangerous and related to the ability they later on gain.
One other way to gain Power is to make so called Fox Deals where a Fox fulfills a human wishes and in exchange gain something from them. Either their soul or something of same value.
The threshold and hardest to pass is the so called Nine-tails exam. It stands for the leap from eight to ninth Tail. About one in five or ten foxes doesn't make it out of their Nine-tails alive.
The number of tails can rise from Nine-tails but it is rare and these Tails afterwards are only gained through either special circumstances ot life threatening situations.

One out of about fifty foxes is born a sorcery Fox.
Fae is a description for a large number of magical beings that are usually 'Spirits of Nature'
One has to notice though, what can be described as such varies greatly. Modern society has transformed many fae whose abilities were tied to the habitate they lived in into something else. They have gained new abilities and lost old ones and while most of them are perfectly harmless there are a few, called named ones, that possess powers so great they can raze entire cities to the ground.
One thing among Fae to notice is though. They don't lie, their definition of truth is flexible but they never outright lie.
Sorcerers and Witches. They are the same upper category of magic, being born human in either case, they are Magic users with one major difference.
Witches deal with natural Magics. They use the Magic energy of Nature around then to cast their spells. Affinity towards nature or a specific element, often a preference, determining their level of strength.
Sorcerers deal with Demon Magic or so called artificial Magic where Magic is gained through means other then affinity. Similar to sorcery foxes many among them are potion and spellmakers.
The name of a drug used in medicine, to daze or completely knock someone out before the operation. It works well on magic users since normal morphium usually wears off to fast.
Either a poisionous plant, or a designer drug acting like speed. It gives you hallucinations and makes you hypersensitive while at the same time hyperactive.
It is only allowed in very small doses and even that is hard to get. One of it's primary places of distribution is the Shadow Bazaar in Alexandria.
Combined with Honeysuckle it either works like an Aphrotisiac or it completely takes the human/rational side of a magical being out.
