It's a funny story about how this came to be. I have a good friend who is really into fanfiction, I'm a close friend of the family and my friends teenage daughter wrote herself into a web novel to come out to her parents. It's not posted anywhere because she is really shy, but she let me read it. I am a huge patron of the arts, so I was very moved by her whole story. This is a story where I’m hoping to take some things and put them on its head. Everyone has heard of isekai about now, but has anyone ever really contemplated what it would be like to have voices, visions, or archaic ideas and views swim around a person's mind? We also hear about how the mc’s always gets the harem. But what if that's because there are more women than men and women are somewhat biologically different then the women we know from our world. Imagine a society where anyone can become strong and since there are more women than men, there are more stronger women than stronger men and now apply medieval history and a view that men are lower than women because the goddess made women in her image. And what if, the mc isn’t the only one with memories of past lives, and he meets some people who have been driven insane because of it?

This is my first time writing a book and showing it to potential thousands of people. I won’t promise that my work will be good right off the bat. But I'm hoping that, with enough constructive criticism, I can provide an interesting read for all comers and improve to match and exceed the expectations put on me.

How did he get there? What happened? Joram finds himself questioning reality, much to his detriment as his assumptions of it being a coma-dream became quite painful. Then comes the learning and training.

The story follows Joram as he's taken to a new world, learns new things, experiences things over again, and slowly learns to adapt to his new life and what's thrown at him.
He may have learned a lot of skills and technical knowledge, but implementing them is something else entirely.

What to expect:

The mc is kind of overpowered, but not in a typical way. And definitely not in an obvious way. He does get more overpowered as the story develops though. Again, not in a normal way.

Yaric is central, but many side characters are very important. The world doesn’t revolve around him.

There will not be any training montages. Power is gained through effort, and training and learning is part of the journey. Some will likely consider the story ‘slow burn’ – the mc is discovered to have magical potential, and then spends many years studying. Lore is revealed as the mc learns. The journey is the story.

The mc’s journey will include training missions, fulfilling appeals (effectively ‘adventuring’), diplomatic missions, small scale skirmishes and large-scale wars encompassing multiple nations. Mysteries and crimes will have to be solved along the way. There will be monsters, creatures hiding in the dark, and apocalyptic behemoths. Oh, and there will be dragons. Very important dragons. They’re coming!

There will be combat, martial arts, different kinds of magic, and various forms of crafting. Different nations have different cultures; politics, trade, and wars between them are important. Battles aren't just groups of soldiers slugging it out. Ok, sometimes they are...

It might take a while to get there, but there are overarching plots over and above the minor plots and story arcs. The main plot starts right at the beginning.

The world:

It's less medieval and more Roman Empire/Ancient China, if they both had magic and 1000’s of years of extra development. Just like they had occupations such as administrators, secretaries, lawyers, architects, acrobats, firemen and accountants, so too does Malvec and the surrounding nations. The sapient population includes humans, elves, dwarves, draugr and lichs. Wildlife includes ogres and vardøgers, trolls and gnolls, hellcats and nightwing bats. And much more!

Technology is more advanced, due to 2 main differences between those empires and nations like Malvec
Time: Civilization has been around longer - by thousands of years. Mass production is common. Assembly lines have been developed. Various forms of schools and education are widespread. Steam power, internal combustion engines and electricity are practically the only things missing. Essentially power generation and storage.
Food: Mages drastically enhance food production, making populations both larger and more diverse. A much larger % of the population take up other jobs.

Uh, yeah, if he prepares enough. But overwhelmed and with only his dagger? Well, he might get some stabs in, but the man isn't a swashbuckler or a fighter by any means. Watch him get his teeth kicked in over a misunderstanding at a bar or gamble away an adventure's earnings in a single game and then make at least enough back to buy a drink and go to sleep. But don't underestimate him because between using poisons and powerful scrolls, he is most deadly when prepared and using a bow. He may not have many spells either but enough to do some damage.
