Youjo Senki is one of my favorite works of writing. I wish to clarify this.
I’m not going to waste much time, but to put it simply, the way that Tanya’s character is portrayed aggravates me. To say that the writing mechanics and character points of the original work being are beyond conveyed accurately would be dishonest at best and sacrilegious at worst.
The character of Tanya is twisted in order to fit the author’s plot in such a way that it guts and removes some of the most important features in her personality and plot circumstance. Namely, misunderstandings seen as knowledge far greater than what is actually given, others understanding actions of being “nice” and threatening and vice versa, and more.
To put it simply, I really don’t like this. I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt a compulsory requirement. This writing simply deviates far too much from its original given work.
Interesting concept, but this Tanya does not fit my perception. Tanya was an interesting MC, which was one of the main reasons I liked youjo senki. However, here she seems too emotional. If you made her transfer after she finished her previous life, maybe it'd make sense if she was calmer, smarter and more calculating than her anime counterpart because of experience. I also do not see her ever falling into romance, especially not with deku, like she did here. I think her corrupting/manipulating him would be more accurate to her character. Tanya wants to live a normal content life (in the face of x, who doesn't let her do it and wants her to pray), doesn't value others' lives and morals, while deku wants to save people and defeat villains. It's just not that compatible. Especially not for romance. Her caring about her parents emotionally is weird, it'd make more sense if she got worried economically. I believe the romance tag should be added to this novel. Tanya is only about 15% "Tanya" here, so I really can't give a high rating.
This story... While well written is very basic and boring, it also doesn't help that its a MHA story as well. Tanya's character has been shredded to the last atom and this is pretty much a new character in a bad way. Izuku is the real main character and I mean that in a bad way. He is the male equivalent of a Mary Sue character, Gary Stue.
When I was first reading I didn't think it was going to be a harem since it didn't say so in the tags and the story didn't seem to be like that but like every fanfiction the author cant seem to keep it in his pants and decided to turn Izuku into this Giga Chad alpha male that has every female that looks at him want to mate. Tanya pretty much agrees to the harem for some stupid reason or another and that pisses me off to no end honestly. I'm going to be frank with you here, the story is well written but it is not a good story. People can certainly enjoy it but its a very bad story nonetheless.
Why do so much authors of novels fanfiction or not seem to want to ruin their story with harem? I'm not going to lie I hate harem with a passion and I think 99% of the time the author doesnt know how to write one and ruins their story because they cant keep it in their pants and likes to imagine themselves as the MC f**king all the fake anime girls. The harem single handedly ruined this story and how you ruined Tanya's character doesn't help either. The final nail in the coffin is not the harem or Tanya's character but how you made the whole world and story revolve around Izuku, yes Izuku not Tanya (the real MC). From the moment they stepped through the gate of UA High you pretty much made every girl w*t for him and like every other trashy fic the author focused on the harem part more then the actual story.
The story isn't anything crazy. There is a reason why MHA is known as the worst story to use as a fanfiction. The world of MHA is VERY boring, especially when the authors of said fanfiction refuse to do anything more with said world. Do you think Japan is the only city in that world? is Class 1-A the only class that exists? Authors of this fanfiction gets tunnel vision when they write a story and cant seem to think for themselves (not just MHA fanfiction but almost every fanfiction). They use the excuse of them writing for 'fun' to pretty much make a story much worse then the source material despite them copying off it. If your going to do this for fun at least take it seriously and respect the work and not ruin it with such trash.
Yea sorry rant over. I just really hate harems in fanfiction that has no justification for it. If the original world and story has no harem what's your business adding one yourself and ruining the world? Follow the rules of the world as you write your story and 99% of the fanfiction out there would make more sense.
Ah well, like other reviews around here, I didn't like Tanya's mischaracterization, and considering I came to see her as the lead, I was disappointed. The real protagonist of this fanfic is Deku, but he is completely Mary Sue, and is practically another person. I must have read about 30 chapters when I got impatient and skipped to the end and... there's harem... I'm not against harem but... really? Would Tanya agree to share her partner with other girls? In her dreams. She would probably kill the girls and her boyfriend together. To begin with, she wouldn't have a boyfriend considered her personality, at most a s*xual partner. But that's it, if you came for Tanya, I don't recommend reading it, if you don't know it, you might end up liking it, the writing is good and apart from the mischaracterization of characters, and Midorya's honey penis, I liked it.
Author, if you see my review, don't take it personally, I like your writing. 🙃
Ah, I used Google translator so sorry if some parts are weird.
It's been a great work so far, clearly a well done work. The writing is clean and the characters don't feel artificial. Barely no grammatical errors and very well polished work. It somehow follows the original MHA plot and yet it's something completely different - imagine a world where Midoriya kept training, improving himself and using his brain instead of breaking his limbs every time he used his powers.
It's obvious that some will say the usual "BuT ThAt'S NoT HoW ThE ChARaCter iS oRIgInALlY", and they're right, this is a fanfic, not canon, you can't read a fanfic and expect all characters to be copy pasted from their original series - characters with the author's touch is to be expected. Do not expect the author to bend to your will and create a history that fits your specific tastes, if you want that, do it yourself.
Fanfics are the author's view of already existing characters, we should respect their creative views and go with the flow. Giving one star to a fanfic just because the character isn't exactly like canon is kinda lame, not gonna lie.
I had to control myself to not post every single chapter, it's a really nice and well balanced history. There are some points that I disagree but that's not worthy of being pointed out.
I just really, REALLY, hope the author doesn't drop it.
Really good fanfic, easily top 5 fanfics I've read so far, admirable work by the author, 10/10 would recommend it to everyone.
Tanya changed and the story completely became worse for me because of her character. I get that some people think that this change could be from the decades she experienced in her previous world but like if you spent your whole life in the military would you change? Especially because she was never one to change.
This is a really great story, the author is highly skilled and knows how to entice the readers, and the characters are very well developed. In fact I liked this more than the OG My Hero Academia (though to be fair I didn't like the OG that much at all). The only complaint I have is how Tanya's personality is different from how it was in the OG, but that can be explained by the decades she spent in that world after canon, and her growing up in this new world. All in all a great novel and you should give it a read.
This novel is pretty good and has a wholesome romance for an MHA fanfic instead of the normal harem mess. I find it a rare kind of Youjo Senki story that has a more emotionally evolved Tanya, instead of the copy-paste Tanya from original work that has not changed after many years of life. I would understand the copy-paste type people were looking for if say this story Tanya died at say 14 instead of the middle of her 2nd life. But some readers who are anime only may find the evolution of 20 years of life a bit jarring from the 11-year-old from the anime plus the random nazi loli meme that also have warped the image of the character a bit for some people.
I think a few minor things that could be added or should be addressed are that she lacks a lot of the trauma the type -95 orb inflicted on her by the end of the war that she would never be fully overcome with how bad it was by the end of the war. I also think she is a bit too strong physically even with her current skillset. But please keep up this badass Deku you are molding, he is like a 200% improvement over the cannon Deku.
I want to write an essay about this story, but who would read it? For background, I found my hero academia frustrating for reasons that are too numerous to count. I did get through one season, so I feel I gave it a fair shot. Tanya the Evil is one, if not, my favorite antihero.
The beginning setup for this story makes logical sense. In the Tanya story, she is an church orphan and an outsider in the church, due to her eisdain for Being X. Her personality, logically, develops from there. While she had been reincarnated, Tanya still held on to her original ideals and was placed in a situation meant to challenge those. In the end, as noted at the beginning of this story, she won and made peace with her life decisions and ending. Only for Being X to send her into her current situation.
Her new reality was entirely different from the beginning. This third go at it, has loving and understanding parents who share some of Tanya's old traits. Her Mom pushing her body to the limit and being opportunistic, in a way, with Tanya's quirk growth that stimulate her own abilities. The Father being cunning about how Tanya's future should look and preparing accordingly. Their relationship made Tanya grow another layer and more depth that wasn't shown in Tanya the Evil.
Before some of you run away from this because 'Tanya's changed', this story is logical in addressing the changes and manages to not lose the traits that made her fascinating. Tanya is herself. There are times in this story where the things she does or says could easily have come from the source material. If anything I could argue that this story fills gaps in Tanya's personality that the Tanya series wouldn't be able to explore due to keeping a tight storyline.
The two shows being mashed together is actually ideal because Tanya's personality fills a gap in My Hero, by showing consequences. For the sake of spoilers, I won't go too in detail but let's just say Tanya helps make the My Hero world make sense. Heros don't get a free pass for everything and that control makes this story better. They also are more practical in quirk application.
After all this, why did I give it 4 stars? I haven't finished it yet. The story is in process. If it devolves into some harem nonsense, I will admittedly leave it at a 4/5 if it is a good one or if awful, though it would pain me, give a 2. Overall, give it 5 chapters, ideally even 10 to see what I mean.

Important: DO READ THE DESCRIPTION BEFORE JUMPING INTO THE STORY.
If you like to read a fast-paced story, this is not for you, sorry. It has decent action, grammar is decent, there can be some pronoun issues, but they are unintentional (I
