Synopsis

What would you do if one day you were told you were one of the chosen who would have to battle to save the world?

Akio was an average guy, having moved to the big city from his humble town in the mountains. Sure, his IT freelancing job wasn't making him big money, and he wasn't exactly a hit with the ladies, but life wasn't all that bad... until one day a mysterious angel-like being visited him to tell him the Earth was in danger. Many would be chosen to fight this fate, but would any succeed?

Of course, if one could have the usual cheat skills everything would work out, wouldn't it? So why was his skill like a garbage pay-to-win mobile game? Akio would have to not only hone his skills and build his Astral Empire, but he would need to raise money, secure land and become a player on Earth too! Facing this challenging task alone would surely be impossible, so Akio needs to make strong and beautiful allies to take on all those who would oppose him.

Who would that be, you ask? The old myths of Earth are returning, alien invaders are waiting outside on the Astral Tides, Cultivators are looking for their next faces to slap, Demons are whispering poison into the ears of anyone who would listen, and whoever was trying to save Earth by granting various people powers were making some really awful choices...

Join Akio as he starts at the bottom of the ladder, clawing his way to the top and discovering one can change their destiny, so long as they work hard (and have a boat-load of money!).

[This story is a modern world LitRPG where I try and balance the real world, the other world and various character-development scenarios. The pace can be described as 'measured', as there is a lot of 'slice-of-life' style events to balance 'number-go-up' and Territory capture]

What can you expect from this story? MC and side characters who are flawed and make mistakes, but ultimately grow and change, bettering themselves and the world around them. Yes, the MC does start off a bit weak and whiny, but he does get over it as the story progresses. It's a slow burn though.

Likewise Harem and romance. it is most definitely harem, though again it's a slow burn and not easy to reach. There are some r18 scenes with them, but these don't happen until a fair way into the story.

Real-world consequences of power. I'm trying to explore this slowly, so expect politics down the line.

Base-building in both the real and the other world, growing power, money, influence and more. it's a slow burn but a focus.

Cultivators, Faeries, Demons, Gods and more, though again, it takes a while for more and more of these to appear.

Update schedule - Minimum of 3 Chapters Per Week, between 3-5 Per Week is the aim. This is the schedule since it is now up-to-date with Royal Road.

There's a lot to say about this story. With 500 some chapters that's not at all surprising. With that said I'm going to try and keep things brief as I can.

If you're looking for a long format Harem slice of life drama, this story is for you. There's hours of dialog, lots of romance, and a MC that cares just a bit to much.

If you're looking for a Kingdom builder harem novel, this story isn't for you. It's been 500 chapters with hardly any character progression, repetitive dialog, the inability to move on from a subject, and overall a pacing so slow molasses in the middle of winter would move faster going up hill in the middle of winter.

The grammar is spot on. The writing is smooth and easy to follow. And I love the combat when we get some. Even the Harem is well done with unique characters. Yet I can only read "I know it's immoral", for what ever the reason, so many times before I simply can't keep reading. In my personal opinion, you could delete 300 chapters of dialog, and nothing of substance would be lost.

For the author. I hope you keep writing. Your story has a depth few manage, and your world feels alive. But please, work on your pacing, character development, and dialog.

Thank you for putting your story out there!

TLDR: Lots to read, great pacing, well written characters, natural and believable character growth (power and personal), little to no grammar mistakes. Only complaint -- from time to time there are too many side chapters back to back. BUT they do add to the story by giving context, introduce future characters and show the impact of the astral on the world.

    WARNING MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

Grammar: I have noticed only a very small amount of mistakes throughout the entire story. Where there were some they were obvious misclicks on the keyboard and they did not impact the story at all.

Pacing: The story starts of slow to accomodate realistic growth in power. Akio (the MC) starts with no obvious abilities and has to slowly build himself up. Later on moments of intense action are spaced out by enjoyable interaction between the characters and slow build up to further action.

Characters: Akio - Likeable with realistic flaws (minor hero complex), grows more confident and capable as he progresses through the Boundary. (A place where much of the story happens).

Eri - a childhood friend of Akio and a love interest, initially insistent on Akio being devoted solely to her and jealous. Her slowly accepting other harem members was done well and felt right as the story progressed.

Shaulea - a former enemy that quickly became an ally and a love interest, arrogant at the start with a quick but believable change for the better after her defeat by Akio. Horny, fond of mischief (she is a fae duh) and alcohol, accepting of the harem.

Aiko - Akio's sister, NOT a love interest though they do stray close with their banter and jokes (nothing physical, purely verbal), bestfriend of Eri, funny and cute, fiery.

These are the characters with the most screen time (Partly because they are involved from the start). Other characters include Akio's and Aiko's parents, Eri's parents, Political figures of Japan, Shaulea's family, various enemies.

Writing style: Enjoyable. Doesn't drag and flows nicely. Only thing I am weirded out by are the author's notes (or comments) where he does this: *smiles*

Probably should include "Kingdom building" in the tags.

Binged this one pretty hard, not sure how long it took to read, but I feel like it was weeks? Fell behind in some real life tasks but the story was just too interesting to put down. The world is really nice and fun. The mythology involved is cool. Definitely has a sense of mystery that kept me always wondering what comes next. I don't always agree with the protagonist, Akio. But generally he is alright. There's probably some wasted words regarding philosophical conversations. It seems like anyone at any point is ready to throw down arguments about the meaning of life and love, but most of the people I meet in real life are more irrational. So I guess that would imply the story is kind of ham-fisted regarding morals. Akio's morals are okay. He's definitely s*xist, but that is pretty representative of men I think. That's all I have in terms of critique though. The story really shines in regards to power fantasy, harem building, and eroticism. It's simply better than most other stories on the same topics. Hard to pinpoint why, but I would guess it has to do with planning ahead, and good character work. I don't love every character and I don't think the dialogue is believable when they talk philosophy so often, but there are lots of characters, many of them are fun and endearing, and seeing how my favorites develop and reach their goals is the best part of the story I think. I hope to see more of Aiko, but out of the more fleshed out women in the harem, I would say

are best. In terms of side characters, Michiru stands out to me. Cute ninjas are always top tier.

I liked the RTS elements so I got hooked at the start. However after a few more chapters the story started getting flooded with cliché anime characters to the point it became unreadable to me. There is no personal growth of characters after over 60 chapters though there are stats growths aplenty but one does not make a fitting substitute for the other unfortunately. The MC talks and thinks like a patronizing old man although he is only 25. And he has a disturbing attraction to high school girls or women who look like high school girls?... Beyond that almost all characters are completely two-faced. They'll say something while thinking something completely different all the time. I know the story takes place in Japan and the culture and mentality there is reputed to be like that but there is a difference between a character having layers and secrets and a character being completely fake in all social interactions. To sum up the initial idea is cool, the writing is fine, the character cast is abysmal.
