How would you react if one day you found yourself in an environment running on tropes and clichés?

For allegedly average high-schooler Leonard Dunning, this rhetorical question became uncomfortably real on the day he woke up on a strangely pristine island country in the middle of the Atlantic. Without memories, surrounded by characterless placeholders, and with a classic harem protagonist and his various love interests for friends, he tries his best to fit in and figure out what's going on.

That would be difficult enough already, yet his investigation into the rules governing the world, sabotaging the harem tropes, and his odd blend of outside-context knowledge, unique abilities, and a penchant for causing trouble wherever he goes, ends up drawing the attention of the world's nebulous narrative...

Things take an eerie turn due to strange construction that forces them to take a detour down a long and dark forest highway rarely traveled. Ben plots the quickest route, and they take a highway that will get them where they need to go in the same time frame.

The eeriness only increases as Hannah feels like the forest is watching her. Assuming this detour would only add a few hours onto their trip. Upon traveling for several more hours, they start to notice things about the road they are on. The time they expect to reach the next city grows longer than expected. Mysterious obstacles begin to impede their path. Ben comments that he has not noticed another road since taking this detour, and the road seems to go on straight forever.

Stranger things occur whenever their RV stops for any amount of time. Nightfall comes as their journey draws on. It becomes apparent this route is longer than they had previously thought.

Soon she realizes the true depth of what is in store for her, as unseen forces stalk her. Danger lurks in every shadow. Hannah becomes plagued by what she could describe as hallucinations. Is her mind playing tricks on her or could what she is seeing is real? Whenever she is alone for the briefest moment, unseen and erotic shadows lures her into the woods.

Yeah, that woman sent me into a place where I’m a private detective. It's what they called a shamus back in 1940. The thing is this place isn't on the map and I can't leave. Well, not without a huge loss of blood. Trust me, I've tried.

At the end of the day, I’m just an ordinary guy stuck in the past that doesn’t totally match the history books. I can get beat up or killed by any of the gangsters, backstabbing people, or crooked cops I meet. Hell, I can't even tell if the people are NPCs. After all, they seem to have lives like any person you might meet. Then again, how many times to you see dead movie stars wandering around on the streets?

It's another dimension that runs like an old movie, leaving me with no choice but to find a way to escape. While I don’t miss my college classes that much, this place certainly puts a damper on my career hopes. Besides, Lane Dagger has a lot of people trying to kill him.
