“The world can be quite cruel to people sometimes, and some are exceptionally pitiful, one in particular I have taken extra step in helping out to show my sympathy, let’s see how this lovely little bunny deal with the blessing I have given her, let’s see how she’ll deal with her new form and power, will she wants to keep it I wonder?”
This is a cute little story about a trans werebun and her date. Lunia transforms into a bunnygirl when bathed in moonlight, but back into dull human boy Eric when the sun comes up. Love interest Sophia is almost mugged one night, but rescued by Lunia who breaks the mugger's legs. Impressed by this feat of maidenly violence, Sophia is instantly smitten. Lunia on the other hand is desperately lonely, but afraid to reveal her supernatural form and gift, not to mention disgusted by the body she is forced into during the day. The two of course agree to date. Lunia resolves to spend her life with Sophia, hoping to also fall in love somewhere along the way.
For some reason, the prologue seems unpopular. This may be the source of the comparatively low rating. The prologue has a poetic style full of run-on sentences. This appears to be an intentional stylistic choice, and I did not find it hard to read or follow. The style becomes relatively more conversational in the actual chapters.
At 27k words, Bunny Under the Moonlight is a short read. That leaves a lot of potential fluff and character development unexplored. Normally, I would limit my rating to 3 or 4 stars for such, however this is only book 1, and the sequel is out already. As a "book 1 of a series, " this story is polished enough for 5 stars.
