Hermit’s Note: My take on the kingdom building genre, which often suffers from weak characters, low stakes and contrived challenges. Buildup will be slow, with Book 1 focused on business managment, Book 2 focused on a battle for succession and only Book 3 getting into the depths of kingdom building. There’s plenty of inventions before that point though, so if you’re here for the clever use of modern tech you’ll find quite a bit even early on.

Spring has come, and the flowers have bloomed here in this small town with no name. Thousands of different colours now paint the field that had been coloured by frost alone just yesterday.
The townsfolk have gathered by the field to celebrate the beginning of the last spring with so many smiling faces.
Tears too.
I can’t help but wonder whether the flowers will bloom again before the sky falls upon us. Others must be thinking the same.
There are moments when the smiles fade and their eyes glaze over as they realize just how near to the end we are. They forget it again in moments. They make themselves forget.
The children aren’t like that, though. They don’t seem to understand, or they’ve come to accept it in a way that their parents just can’t manage to.
This one boy actually asked me why I was sad. I had to wonder whether he was actually aware that the world is ending, but it seemed wrong to mention it. I ended up just telling him that I was waiting for someone, and he scampered off, wearing a silly smile.
I can’t help but feel jealous of him.

Lord Protector is fantasy series following a teenage trio named Martyn Wulf, Arthur Svard, Eleanna Florens and their teacher Marie Maynard, who were summoned to a world called Lumenter by the Kingdom of Albion.

They are tasked to protect Lumenter from an old chaotic force, that previously has tried and failed to destroy Lumenter, but this trio and their teacher took a different approach on their task, rather than becoming a heroes party and venturing out to this new world, they, or more specifically, Martyn Wulf, the brain of the trio, made a deal with the King of Albion.

The deal was that Martyn, his friends, and his teacher would be protected by the Kingdom and then making Martyn as the co-ruler of Albion, where in exchange he will improve and advance Albion politically, economically, diplomatically, and maybe even technologically.

The King and his advisors accepted Martyn's offers but by doing this, he just plunge himself as well as his friends and teacher to a world of corruption, lies, betrayal, and greed.

Either way, he must play this messed up game of chest for his survival, his friends' survival, and his teacher's survival.

Even worse, dark clouds cover the horizon, and the abnormal rains are a damper on the salt trade. Shipments are irregular these days and there isn’t much sympathy for a salt baron without money.

Even at the best of times, the hawks were never friends to the mercantile barons and naval faction. They become bolder and ruder as Vara’s ally and neighbour Aaljau gears up for war against the So Empire once more. The front looks desperate this time, even Gloveer has to admit, as the So buy the full support of the recently formed Princips United to the North to support their campaign.

But even occupation of the Diostejan Peninsula by its historic foe might not be the true threat. As the skies change in Vara, so do the animals in the woods. Tales of leviathans surfacing in the seas reach Vara from far ranging fisherman. Worse, reports of Princips soldiers flinging fire from their hands lower the morale of the Varan council.

The point is, there's no way to enjoy a fantasy life if the nobles hog all the resources and technology is at the point where "flush" and "toilet" would never end up in the same sentence.

As a voracious reader of the fantasy genre, I’ve found a sort of unfilled niche for economic matters. No, not microeconomics like Spice and Wolf. Macroeconomics. Banking and government policies and the like. Most of the time you just see the paperwork, but never the details. Perhaps they aren’t touched upon for a reason, but I guess we’ll see.

Also, this story’s progression is rather slow with long-ish chapters, so it’ll read like a slice of life fantasy story a good bit of the way and will probably extend to during when the economics hit too, or so’s the plan. Oh, and this is my first novel so… please treat me nicely!
