This story is the sequel to Dawn Weaver, and takes place some years after the first.

However, it can be read independently of the first book (while knowledge of the first book may make some things clearer, it is not needed at all to understand most of what is going on and enjoy the story for what it is). The two main characters are new characters, as is the majority of the cast.

Note that this story is much heavier on the transgender themes than Dawn Weaver, it and comes into it from very early in the story. The gender bender element itself don't come into play until much later however.

He was so mortified he thought he would faint as Keary rose from the bed and slowly closed the distance between them. Cardin backed away, frantically trying to cover his nakedness with the damp towel.

“I-It’s… no, no, no please, it’s not what you think!” His bare back hit the cupboard but he continued to push against it.

Keary stepped closer, and Cardin turned aside in a panicked attempt to escape, only to find himself trapped when the taller boy quickly reached out to put a hand against the cupboard to block him. Cardin squeezed his eyes tightly shut, only to open them when fingers took hold of his chin and tilted his face upward.

“Tell me.” The note of barely concealed lust in the low voice sent shivers running through his body. "Tell me what I think it is, and what it really was."

The new ability gives Del an edge over his opponent. However, the limitations of the system are severe. Some of the weapons are even downright useless. In this world of magic, even the ability to make an assault rifle can’t protect him from those who wish him to disappear.
