Synopsis

“Can’t nobody fly with all that shit. Wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down.” - Toni Morrison

In search for true freedom a hero lays down his life.
For he thought true freedom laid just beyond glorious sacrifices.
Instead, he comes to learn that true freedom was hidden inside his own personal nightmare.

Warning: There is no romance in this book (the main character will not pursue any relationships even if others have feelings for them), there might be some torture but not the extreme kind.
I have also post on RoyalRoad.
There will be at least three chapters a week and bonus chapters if I top off my pile. Which I do often.

Status: chapter 37 ‘mother and father dearest’

This ticks every box in my list for a perfect gender bender story, this author knows what's up!

I won't criticize anything cause I can't, every part of this story so far has been so fun and I can't wait to read more!

I am too far outside the target demographic to bother giving a star rating to this one. I read out to ch 25 or so, somehow expecting that the MC would finally escape from the dark fortress in the next chapter, swear revenge and gather a party of heroes to slay the evil dragon. That does not happen. In summary, this story is for people who want the MC to suffer, and enjoy watching him suffer. There will be no revenge, no escape, no mutual understanding, no personal growth. The MC has no power to affect his surroundings, no ability to make any choices, no ability to voice his opinions. He is a "chew toy" MC, and is constantly abused and gaslit by an evil dragon who self-indulgently styles herself as a "mother", and him her daughter. Reader discretion advised.

    Status: chapter 20 ‘truthful shame’

To put the following shortly: this novel – as well as the commenters and author – romanticizes mental and physical abuse. Abuse that would, realistically, leave anyone who suffers though it a sobbing broken mess.

Most of the important characters so far (MC's "mother", maid and aunt) could be categorised as psychopaths with what they've put them through: constant physical abuse, mental abuse, quite literally enslaving the MC "for their own good" and to make them "behave properly" (aka do everything they're told without acting up, like, ya know, a slave) and the one I dislike the most as it is quite rape-y: forcefully showering the MC, including their private parts, which is s*xual abuse.

It is also said that the MC's "mother" is supposedly quite wild and free-spirited, though hypocritically enough she doesn't want her own "daughter" to be anything like that while at the same time being disappointed that they don't have a spine/don't stand up for themselves (even though you punished them every time they so much as showed dissatisfaction on their face).

Also, what I noticed is that, even though they're supposedly god-like beings and seem to be able to easily read the MC they don't seem to be able to see the literal tears run down their face every time they abuse him like?????

Now some of you might have noticed that I use "them" when referring to the MC. That's cus this is forced gender bender, and as someone who knows what dysphoria feels like I can say that it's absolutely awful, and it's surprising that the MC isn't cathartic most of the time, what with the sudden and forced change of s*x and nonstop abuse.

Besides all that the grammar is not too bad, with only a few slip ups and such in each chapter.

The story so far is quite a slowburn, with each chapter mostly being a single day or less (with a few timeskips of a few days or so).

The characters don't feel very realistic (read overly cruel), which for the demon race can be chalked up to them being a different race. As for the humans, well, only 3 (except for the soldiers in MC's battalion that didn't have screen time beyond a passing mention) have been shown so far: the MC, their trainer/commander (?) and the trainer's daughter. The MC is, as the tags say, weak-willed, with the occasional (random) burst of confidence/arrogance. The trainer supposedly cares about the MC, though the MC thinks that she's devil incarnate. The trainer's daughter only had like, 2 lines so far.

Overall I'd say this novel is for people with certain... Tastes  (which I honestly consider quite vile but to each their own, I guess).

A good gender bender story showing MC struggles after being turned a girl. Definitely give it a read if you like an MC with male adult mentality slowly corru- changed to fit their current body :)

The story showcases a guy turning into a girl and becoming adopted by an all-powerful monster Monster Girl, who constantly teases our MC.

Throughout the current story, the MC begins learning his new circumstances (gender, family, and body) and adapts to them in a failing although cute manner.

His new family teaches him what he needs to know while also leaving room for teasing.

To wrap it up, the story is great, and I definitely recommend giving it a try. Remember don't be afraid to try something just because one person finds it offensive/bad. (They normally exaggerate their claims.)
