Dear Readers! I'd like to welcome you to my first foray into writing fanfic and into doing a book from a 1st Person Point of View. As to what to expect, let me give you more details so you won't be disappointed if it is not your cup of tea!

- An alternate timeline: Voldemort killed the Potters and Harry as a baby. He never lost his body, thus winning the 1st Wizarding War.
- Of course, a battle is still going on in the background, but that will only come later in the story.
- Being in an alternate timeline, the dates may be a little bit off, but the story will mostly play out in the same time frame as the original.
- Being an altered history, some main characters will not show up, and I mainly mean Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Or any of the Dumbledore supporting cast. (at least for a good portion of the story). For obvious reasons. If this is not what you want, please understand that I am going for a familiar yet different story than the original. I am taking inspiration from the original plot, but I am not planning mirroring it 1:1.
- Of the returning characters, some may have altered personalities, although I will try my best to remain true to their book counterpart. But I will also think up "what would they have done" scenarios and modify their personality to match the alternative world we are in. I hope you will still enjoy it; that is my goal. To entertain you.
- There is no transmigration, no isekai tropes, no reincarnation, no knowledge of in-lore events, none of that. The main character is someone who is born in-universe.

Lastly, the story should be able to maintain my plan of 3 chapters per week. (I plan to post mostly on the weekends). I will take this slowly, focusing more on slice-of-life elements, exploring, and learning magic. Coming to age. Things like that. A retelling of the excanon series through the eyes of a young trans main character, Rhiannon. Rather than at first directly changing canon events I have chosen to instead have characters react to them more realistically, causing some actions that happened in canon to have greater consequences and by this ripple effect gradually altering the story. Because excanon was a war story sanitised for children, it IS going to get dark at times. Sometimes for a few chapters at a time. But I am writing that dark on purpose because excanon didn't do any of it emotional justice, and I am writing a stronger found family & friend circle for my main character, because we can survive all kinds of darkness if we stand together.
Remember: Being trans is not a tragedy. Being disabled is not a tragedy. Being queer is not a tragedy. And even though in the real world we don't get to be heroes, our lives are worth living and we deserve to be able to live them safely and free of abuse. This is not a story for everyone. This is a story for us.

My intent when I started out was to breathe new life into something I've loved for many years, and then as I carried on I realised just how *badly* it's written, how weak the plotting and characters are and how little emotional response there is to what is frankly some pretty horrifying content, so I took it upon myself to write stronger emotional responses and consequences for what excanon content I kept. Remember - this is derivative fiction. Even when it looks identical on the surface, I may well have something quietly plotting away in the background - and if you come into this expecting it to BE like excanon because in places it LOOKS like excanon, I will not be responsible for when your expectations aren't met.
So I made this my own. Initially it stays fairly close to the plotline but diverges after the first few chapters. I shaped Harry from my own experiences and the way I had always related to the character, and gave character to what had previously been nothing but cardboard cutouts. Essentially this is me trying to bring back the magic of the world, the way it should have been. I know this will not appeal to everyone, but I hope queer people like myself, and Jewish folks and people of colour hurt by the racism and antisemitism of the original author, will find some joy in it but most of all disabled people - this one's for us. She said the wizarding world would 'cure' disabilities, and eugenics is not a future I ever want for us. Our lives are worth living and our heroes are worth writing.
I don't like what the original author stands for, I don't like that she took what could have been beautiful and injected so much racism and other bigotry into stories for children. I don't like that she uses her platform to promote people who want me dead. And I am tired of having to tell people all of this and why when you should know it already - so I put my energy into something creative that challenges her canon events instead.
As yet, I have not written in romance, but there are romantic and queerplatonic relationships planned for future content.

Perhaps the oddest location in Gensokyo, amongst those comprehendible to the ordinary human mind, is the Scarlet Devil Mansion. A Western mansion, sticking out like a sore thumb in an Eastern land, inhabited by: a gatekeeper who can’t gatekeep, a maid / ninja / very normal human who can control time itself, an asthmatic witch with an impressive collection of books in Esperanto, the mansion’s vampiric mistress with a penchant for trolling, and the aforementioned mistress’ little sister who has the ability to destroy anything and / or anyone at will. Oh, and one last thing, the vampires serve humans for breakfast, dinner and lunch.

As evidenced above, the Scarlet Devil Mansion is not a suitable place to live for your run-of-the-mill homo sapiens with any smidgeon of sanity.

Thus, it is quite a troubling predicament when an ordinary human named Licorice Meidou finds herself in the grounds of the mansion, with no idea as to where she is or who she is. She ends up being recruited on the whim of the mansion’s mistress, stepping foot into the bizarre land of Gensokyo as she has to contend with whatever fate has in store for her.

What to expect from this work:

- The world of Gensokyo as told from the perspective of an ordinary, human female MC working in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, written in a way that should be easy to get into for people who know nothing about Touhou.
- Some comedy, some drama, lots of slices-of-life.
- Scenes of people consuming tea.

What to not expect from this work:

- High octane action with high-stakes drama.
- An overpowered MC who gets all the girls.
- John Brown. Please read the John Brown Isekai if you were expecting the aforementioned.
